Hello list,

Predictions for 2010 based on the SAMVA USA chart are coming true.

The Obama administration seems to be reaching an impasse on legislation that would bring costly health care reform (see story below). This may in part reflect the fact that both the Federal government and state governments have fallen far into debt (as documented in an earlier message).

The following has been predicted.

“The trend of heavy public finances is expected to continue in 2010.†(This is related to the Venus major period focus on debt, Saturn sub-period influence of sluggish growth, the recent Jupiter period of banking problems and rescue and transit afflictions involving Jupiter since 2007 adding to the setbacks in banking).

“The housing market, health matters or communal harmony will be especially strained … during the first three months of 2010.â€

Obama admits health care overhaul may die on Hill

AP – Fri Feb 5, 6:20 pm ET

WASHINGTON – No, maybe he can't. President Barack Obama, who insisted he would succeed where other presidents had failed to fix the nation's health care system, now concedes the effort may die in Congress. The president's newly conflicting signals could frustrate Democratic lawmakers who are hungry for guidance from the White House as they try to salvage the effort to extend coverage to millions of uninsured Americans and hold down spiraling medical costs. Obama's comments Thursday night came hours after Republican Scott Brown was sworn in to replace the late Edward M. Kennedy, leaving Democrats without their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, and Obama's signature health legislation with no

clear path forward. "I think it's very important for us to have a methodical, open process over the next several weeks, and then let's go ahead and make a decision," Obama said at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser. "And it may be that ... if Congress decides we're not going to do it, even after all the facts are laid out, all the options are clear, then the American people can make a judgment as to whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or not," the president said. "And that's how democracy works. There will be elections coming up, and they'll be able to make a determination and register their concerns." It appeared to be a shift in tone for the issue the "Yes we can" candidate campaigned on and made the centerpiece of his domestic agenda last year. In a speech to a joint session of Congress in September, Obama declared: "I am not the first president to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last. ... Here and now we

will meet history's test." Sweeping health legislation to extend medical coverage to more than 30 million uninsured Americans passed the House and Senate last year and was on the verge of completion — though there were still disagreements between the two houses — before Brown's upset victory last month in a special election in Massachusetts. Since then it has been in limbo, and Obama has not publicly offered specifics to help lawmakers move forward. Congressional aides felt his remarks Thursday did not clarify matters.

The US stock market has also weakened in the past week, falling significantly on Thursday. After falling further during Friday's session, the stock market managed to close the day higher, with the Dow Jones remaining above the psychologically important 10,000 level - up 10 points at 10,012. Numerous concerns are weighing on the market, both in the USA and around the world.

The euro is weakening on debt woes of small Euro-zone countries, like Greece, Ireland and Portugal, whose Treasury revenues have plummeted in the crisis, exposing them to large deficits. Efforts to cut back salaries of state employees or spending on health, education and welfare in these (and other) countries are meeting opposition by the unions and interest groups. Benefitting by the euro’s decline is the dollar, which is strengthening as a “safe haven†currency. However, there are also concerns about deflation being a possible outcome for the USA, which

harms those paying down debts. The banking system is also continuing to struggle after being hit with its biggest crisis since the 1930s. This situation is thought to make the "transmission of monetary policy" more difficult. In other words, low interest rates are found to be less helpful to stimulate borrowing and spending at this time given the many highly indebted households faced with a poor housing and labour market. Firms are also less likely to borrow in order to expand during such a time. While the economy is predicted to be growing by most prognosicators, the growth projections have recently been lowered. The policy makers conducting monetary policy (having to do with e.g. inflation, the exchange rate of the dollar and financial stability) are experiencing considerable challenges.

The following has been predicted in this regard:

During the first four months of 2010, “the indications of Jupiter, including general indications like banking and monetary policy, may experience problems at that time.â€

"The US economy is expected to remain on a sluggish but improving trend during [the Saturn] sub-period."

That said, when natal Jupiter in the SAMVA USA chart becomes transit afflicted in the summer of 2010, even as it moves into the 9th house, its indications are likely to continue under considerable strain.

At the same time, a trade war seems to be escalating between China and the USA and EU. President Obama has insisted on China observing international agreements concerning trade practices. The Chinese have resorted to tit-for-tat trade retaliation measures vis-a-vis the EU and have issued threats of the same to the USA. Add to this the fact that Iran’s missile and nuclear development is creating uncertainty in the Middle East (as documented in earlier messages).

The following has been predicted in this regard.

“…this transit weakness [of Jupiter] … may also involve the nation in conflict over principles and give financial stress.â€

“…the indications of Mars, , including athletes, police and military as well as industry, [and foreign trade, as Mars is 10th lord] will likely be strained in early 2010.â€

Other predictions for early 2010 include:

“Rahu in the 6th house tends to produce harm through enemity, health and setbacks in domestic peace. Ketu in the 12th house tends to produce sudden stress in foreign relationships, expenses and may cause loss of assets.â€

“In early 2010, … stress or even setbacks to its indications of fixed assets and communal harmony. … problems for natural resources or from earthquakes cannot be excluded.â€

Two large earthquakes have taken place in California (June 9 and February 3).

Two large earthquakes have struck in California earlier this year, on January 9 and February 3. Today, February 10, 2010, a moderately sized earthquake struck in an unexpected location, near Chicago. Aside from scaring the populace, not much damage is expected from an earthquake of this size.

Earthquake rattles northern Illinois

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

· Magnitude 4.3 quake jolts parts of northern Illinois, USGS reports

· Quake occurred nearly 50 miles west-northwest of Chicago

· USGS says epicenter was 3 miles underground

(CNN) -- An early morning earthquake rattled northern Illinois on Wednesday, shaking an area about 50 miles west-northwest of downtown Chicago, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The magnitude 4.3 quake hit just before 4 a.m. CT (5 a.m. ET), with an epicenter about 3 miles underground. The USGS pinpointed the quake between the towns of Virgil and Sycamore. Several callers to CNN said the quake shook their homes severely, but there were no immediate reports of major damage. Doug Dupont of Belvidere, Illinois, about 70 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, said the quake shook him out of bed and caused a 1-foot-long crack in the wall of his kitchen. "It was really scary. It felt like a train was going by our house," Dupont said. "This is not California. This is northern Illinois. We are not

supposed to get earthquakes."
