The magnitude-5.8 earthquake struck at 4:32 a.m. in Turkey's Kovancilar district, according to the prime minister's press office. At least 38 people had been killed, Kovancilar Mayor Bekir Yanilmaz told CNN Turk, CNN's sister network. "Many houses have collapsed," the prime minister's press office said. "Search and rescue teams have been sent to the area," the prime minister's office said. The Turkish Red Crescent also is sending tents and blankets, while additional ambulances are being brought from neighboring districts. Transit stationary Ketu in the 1st house is aspecting natal 5th lord Venus in the 5th house. As 4th lord Mercury is natally placed in the 5th house and natal Ketu also afflicts this house, this is explaining the event. Moreover, we should note, as a test of this chart, that the forthcoming transit station of Rahu on the 7th house MEP in aspect with the natal Rahu in the 3rd house MEP during the sub-period of Rahu, will place a major strain on the foreign policy of Turkey, with manipulations involving the actions taken to result in some crisis. In this regard, we should note the natal placement of 7th lord Jupiter in the 6th house of conflict. Rahu also will then afflict, houses 11, 1 and 3. Ketu will at the same time afflict natal Ketu and 1st, 5th, 7th and 9th houses as well as natal Ketu. As a test of this chart, we could predict that Turkey is likely to be involved in some crisis at that time. We could also note that the aspects at the present time have involved Turkey in a senstive international diplomatic debate with the US Congress, which wants to pass a vote that the killing of 1.5 million Armenians in 1915 was a genocide. The US President Obama seems to have been able to forestall the vote, given threats by its main ally in the muslim world, Turkey, to stop allowing the USA to use its airbases to prosecute the war in Afghanistan and to keep the peace in Iraq.
