Natal Chart of Switzerland

Hello Thor and List Members,

 

Lately I was interested in the chart of Switzerland to see if there are some

notable characteristics in line with the country's profile and this is what I

have found in the 24 deg Libra rising chart:

 

(9/12/1848 Bern 7E26 46N57 11:12 CET)

 

12th Lord Mercury conjoins Mars in the 12th house of Virgo giving weakened

military tendencies and a preference to neutrality.

 

3rd Lord, Jupiter in the 10th house of profession giving a pro-active position

in the banking industry.

 

Just wanted to submit my opinions on this country's chart and maybe start a new

thread in the SAMVA group.

Very good. Thanks for the thoughtful and interesting contribution. The horoscope looks promising as per your interpretation, but it also suggests Switzerland would generally be a weak entity. At first glance, this appears surprising given that the country is both prosperous, peaceful and respected. On closer inspection, things are not always as they appear to be.

 

For instance, the placement of Jupiter as 3rd lord of initiative and general indicator of banking appears quite reasonable in the 10th house of the administration and foreign trade. Indeed, foreign deposits are a significant source of tax revenue for the federal government. That said, a further analysis reveals that its dispositor, the Moon as 10th lord , which is well placed in the 5th house of speculation and creativity, is compromised by its own dispositor, 5th lord Saturn, being completely devoid of strength and badly placed in the 6th house of debts and enemity. As a result, all three planets are weak in the chart and vulnerable to setbacks. Add to this that old age Sun as 11th lord in Leo and 11th house, which is favourable (aside from weakness), is conjunct Rahu. This suggests the government would be prone to problems, even crises due to manipulation or

diplomatic difficulties. The recent tussle with the US government over demands for information about tax cheats with accounts in UBS in summer of 2009 comes to mind, as well as the recent snub of Libyias' Quaddafi, who expelled Swiss diplomats and banned Swiss citizens from his country due to their detention of his son, while traveling in Switzerland. As the Sun is co-indicator of banking, this placement would also explain why Swiss banks have become a refuge of tax avoiding wealthy foreign people with sometimes ill gotten gains, including dictators who rob the treasuries of their countries or otherwise use their position for enrichment. The 12th lord Mercury is strong and well aspected even if placed in the 12th house. Switzerland has few enemies abroad. However this placement harms 1st lord Venus, which is weak by bad placement. In some sense, there would be a loss of identity or a tendency to withdraw

from the world. Mars as 7th lord of foreign policy is also placed in the house of losses, which suggests Switzerland would also be prone to withdraw from engagin other countries in cooperation. Overall, this chart doesn´t seem to fit the image of the country, with its prosperous citizenry, skiing and health resorts in the idyllic country side, Swiss cheese and chocolates, etc., etc., but it gives interesting scope for explaining some national characteristics as well as the recent difficulties in its overgrown banking sector. The isolation within Europe raises the interesting question if it is due to some sense of national weaknesses? In this regard we can note that Switzerland seems to have very powerful Cantons (state governments) which the federal government only seems to have limited power over.

 

The next phase would be to test the chart with predictions.
