Guest guest
Hello dear list members, A few years ago, predicted, based on a reading of the birth chart, that President Bush would be able to leave the White House with his back upright. This was at a time when criticism of the US war in Iraq was at its height and the US popular oppinion was highly divided, with many angry at Bush for invading the country [We could note that divisive war protest has been seen at different times in US history. It is a collective tendency in the USA, explained by Venus as 4th lord of communal harmony in the 6th house of conflict SAMVA USA chart, such that the US public can be come highly divided about participation in a war. Interestingly, the objection tends to be less if there is a sense of righteousness attached to the action, such as when the US has been attacked first, as in WWII and the retaliatory attack on Afghanistan in 2001]. Now a debate involving a reassessment of Bush' leagcy, when he has been out of office for more than a year, seems to have started. Of course, this is still a highly charged topic, with feelings still raw for many. However, Karl Rove has written a book defending Bush' record. Of course, many won´t agree with it as he was Bush's closest advisr. However, when the merit of this singularly controversial action by Bush is noted in China, whose government was no fan of Bush, mixed with a litany of his mistakes, it bears noting. Was Bush (indirectly) right about Iraq? Wednesday, March 10, 2010 9:34 am TWN, The China Post news staff It's a question that is almost paramount to heresy for members aligned with the U.S.'s political left, but recent developments in Iraq may indicate that the much-maligned former U.S. president may have been correct in his claims that the American-led invasion of Iraq planted a seed of democracy in the Middle East. Former U.S. President George W. Bush was wrong about many things. His administration wrongly believed Iraq possessed unconventional chemical and biological weapons. President Bush and his advisers also made a wrong call in connecting the 9/11 hijackers — who were primarily Saudi Islamic militants — “ to the Iraqi government. In fact, the previous U.S. administration seemed to mess up almost everything it attempted. A lack of oversight in the financial world contributed to the mess the American economy is currently in. Unrestrained spending over eight years pushed the U.S. into heavy debt. A bungled response to Hurricane Katrina cost far too many American lives and dented America's reputation. But could it be that when historians sit down to debate the Bush presidency decades from now, their main focus will be to praise the former president for ordering an invasion that indirectly transformed the entire Middle East? http://www.chinapost.com.tw/editorial/world-issues/2010/03/10/247592/p1/Was-Bush.htm To this we can add that Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of Great Britain, when recently asked if he thought the invasion in Iraq, which Britain also participated in, was the right thing to do, he replied "Yes, I think it was the right thing to do." In any event, the point is not to start a debate about this issue on SAMVA (after all our interest is the astrology of things and events), but to recall the prediction in refernece to the debate that has started about the legacy of President Bush. In his chart, we may note that Me/Ve period is running, with MMP Saturn and FMs Rahu and Ketu are not afflicting in the chart (attached). However, the nodes and Jupiter as 6th lord are badly placed. Of course, such a controversial debate happens when transit Rahu is conjunct natal 4th lord Venus in the SAMVA USA chart. At the same time, 2nd lord Sun, 3rd lord Mercury and 6th lord Jupiter are badly placed in the 8th house. The transits are also consistent with the health care debate in the USA, which is of course still in full swing, with the Democratic Congress about to pull a fast one on the Republican minorty in order to ram the legislation through.
