Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Learned members, Let me give verses from both the BPHS version for this concerned topic. I do not have the version of Chaukambha Sanskrita Version Mentioned in Santanam's Traslation in Page 45. But the line qouted Santanam 'Naamaantaram tu ...' is present another hindi translation which I have qouted below, So their source could be the same. ---------------Version 1 ------- English Tr. R. In layout the chapter numbers are different. Guruji tells that orginal BPHS is supposed to follow the below rules. a) It has 108 Chapters. b) The verse meter used is Anushtubh. Anushtub is a alphabet based meter having 32 phonemes (4x8). having 4 quarters and each half having 16 phonemes. With my little understanding I see the extra half is appearing the the version 2. Which either mean that another half has been left out or maybe this half has been added in. The Extra line is having 16 phonemes but is the other 16 missing?, (Those attempting to count in the itrans can could occurances of vowels. conjoined vowels can be taken as one and consonants with no vowels omitted [i hope I am correct her in this technique for Itrans]) I am not well versed in Sanskrit ( I am just learning ) but the word naamaantarama in version 2 is naama+antaram where antaram can mean inbetween also. so Mandi can be said to be inbetween(mid point) the gulika period?. Then it can be what Sanjayji says. Corrections and views from other learned members would be helpful. -Warm Regards S.
