They are (1) Kaama: Desire - wanting things (including sex) (2) Krodha: Anger - getting angry about things (3) Lobha: Greed and avarice - not spending on worthy causes and being greedy (4) Moha: Delusion - getting caught in maya, trying for recognition and pursuing temporary goals. (5) Mada: Wantonness & lust - forgetting all morals and madly going after what one wants, including sex. (6) Maatsarya: Jealousy - not being able to appreciate others and lack of humility Enemies are related to the 6th house and D-n (where n is derived from 6) shows matters related to enemies. For example, D-6 (shashthamsa) shows enemies at the physical level. It shows diseases. Divisional charts from D-1 to D-12 throw light on our existence at the physical level. Divisional charts from D-13 to D-24 throw light on our existence at the mental/intellectual level (level of consciousness). Divisional charts from D-25 to D-36 throw light on our existence at the subconscious level. Because 30 gives 6 as remainder when divided by 12, we see that D-30 shows enemies at the subconscious level. While the enemies at the physical level are diseases, the enemies at the subconscious level are the above six (desire, anger, greed, delusion, wantonness and jealousy). All of us fight with these six enemies with varying degrees of success with respect to each enemy. D-30 shows which ones we fight well and which ones are a weakness. The above may be accepted by most astrologers. But what I am going to say below is based on my research and some people may not accept it. The houses from 1st-6th shows the invisible part of us and the houses from 7th-12th show the visible part. I was expecting the invisible part of D-30 to show " paapa purusha " (the evil person) in us, but I found that actually the visible half of D-30 shows our paapa purusha and how we succumb to these 6 enemies. My finding that associates houses with enemies is: 7th: Kaama (desire) 8th: Krodha (anger) 9th: Lobha (greed) 10th: Moha (delusion) 11th: Mada (wantonness & lust) 12th: Maatsarya (Jealousy) Malefic influences on 7th in D-30 show desire to possess things, including but not limited to sex. Malefic influences on 8th in D-30 show anger (there are references in classics about 8th giving anger). Malefic influences on 9th in D-30 show ignoring worthy causes and greed to accumulate fortune. Malefic influences on 10th in D-30 show delusion and running after meaningless goals. Malefic influences on 11th in D-30 show wantonness, lust and shameless pursuit of wanted things, including but not limited to sex (11th is a kaama trikona - trine from 7th). Malefic influences on 12th in D-30 kill humility (12th) and give jealousy. [Examples: In the charts of people like Swami Vivekananda, we see no malefics in 7th-12th houses. Even in the charts of some non-saints, we may see no malefic planets in 7th-12th in D-30 (e.g. Shivaji, a reputed Indian king) and that shows a person with better self-control than most of us. In Bill Clinton's D-30, Saturn and nodes in 7th and 11th show kaama and mada. In Vajpayee's D-30, Mars, nodes, Moon and Venus in 10th show moha. Moody chess player Bobby Fischer has lagna lord with nodes in 8th in D-30 and that makes his main weakness krodha. A gentleman I know deceived his religious wife for decades and maintained an extramarital relationship for decades. He also cheated many relatives from whom he recently borrowed large sums of money for the second lady. He is also very religious and nobody could believe it when people found out the truth about him. He has debilitated Sun, Mars and nodes in 11th in D-30 and his main weakness is mada (wantonness). I have Chandra-Mangala yoga in 8th in D-30 and I am short-tempered (krodha). I have Saturn and nodes in 10th in D-30 and that gives me moha. My moha is what makes me write articles and try for recognition.] So the order in which the six enemies are traditionally listed doesn't seem to be arbitrary, but it seems to be based on the order of the related houses of paapa purusha in D-30. I invite criticism from elders, scholars, my guru Pt Sanjay Rath and others.
