Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste Swee, Akshaya Triteeya does fall on 22nd of this month, that too on a Thursday! That's sure a great day to engage in study and meditation! Akshaya Triteeya is also the day when the temple doors of Badrinath reopen after the winter break, and the people can have a glimpse of the Yogeswara. That day is also the only day in an year, when the sandalwood paste covering Lord Varaha Narasimha at Simhachalam is removed so that one can see the Idol in all its glory (Here Nrisimha is supposed to be Ugra Narasimha, so he is covered in sandalwood all the time and the idol normally looks like a Shivalingam). In short, I think Akshaya Triteeya is a day of revelations and enlightenment. By the way, why are the two tithis governed by Mars, namely Triteeya and Ekadasi, are invariably associated with Lord Vishnu? Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Namaste All, In continuation to my previous mail, talking about Thursday & Mars, I just thought i would share this little incident with you which happened 9 months back. Perhaps i can term it as a nimitta. At that time we were transferred to Tirupati and my husband searched for a new house and selected a good day to move into the house. the good day selected happened to be a Thursday & Shukla Panchami and we entered the house around 5 am. After performing the pooja, I just went round the house and in the room which faces the east & the main door, i found a bust of Lord Venkateswara. What's so strange about this, you might ask. Nothing except that the bust was extraordinarily beautiful, of a deep coral colour...obviously Mars (the busts are always..always black, never any other colour) and the eyes of the Lord are open. In Tirumala, only on Thursdays, the eyes of the Lord are revealed (Nethra Darshanam), and people believe that day He will not let any evil thought or deed go unpunished (the agni tattwa). The bust bore the marks of being worshipped. I thought the bust belonged to the previous occupants though it is very unlikely that they would leave some thing like that behind. But no one had come to claim the bust and my enquiries with the Landlord yielded no positive results. Not that I really mind it. The Lord stays with me and moved with us to our new house and I have sort of delightfully begun to believe that He had deliberately stayed back for us. That's the Lord's limitless Love. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Lakshmi, Sorry, it was a brain switch. Actually tritiya begins on Wednesday when Moon is going into its deepest exaltation. This is just over an hour after sunset for where we are. As for engaging in studies, Rohini nakshatra is not the nakshatra recommended for studies but is good for meditation as it is in swargaloka and Brahma lords this nakshatra. Because the third thithi begins on a Wednesday, the yoga is considered to be destructive (dagha yoga -burnt). To further clarify if this is really going to be as rewarding as promised, we'll need to calculate which planet gets the ahuti after the vrata for the day by performing yagna. The order of the planets for getting the ahuti are the following: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Rahu, Ketu The Moon in Rohini is 4th away from the Sun in Aswini hence, take 4 and divide by 3 = R1 Therefore, Sun gets the ahuti. Sun is Krura (malefic) and indicates a destruction of the auspicious effects. We can further determine the abode of the yagna thus: The tithi is 3 (3rd day) The weekday is Thursday (yagna day) = 5 + 3 = 8/4= 2 2 is the Abode of the Pataal Loka!! It seems that from this, one should take a dip in the Holy Ganga to cool down the Dagha effects and prayers to Vishnu the sustainer who rules both valorous Martian days. On the 3rd, Vaisnavi stands in the SE. Thanks for your inputs on Tirupati.............my barefoot walk from Sri Varaha Temple with Ashwin and Freedom and how I made it to Lord Venkateswara's Temple by a hair's breath and the delight into the sanctum sanctorium at Padmavati Temple when the Temple was closed to the public..... What do you think is the meaning of Lord Venkateswara's purusha (chest/bust)? It is meant for you to look after. My brother Bhima had a similar experience whereby the images of Krishna and Radha kept on appearing in a dream to a lady in England that they (Krishna and Radha) wanted to return to India as they needed to look after a temple for someone else. My brother now has the murtis at his temple. Some things are just meant to be. love, Swee swee www.brihaspati.net B Lakshmi Ramesh [b_lakshmi_ramesh] 20 April 2004 16:03 varahamihira Re: |Sri Varaha| RE: [sJC: Achyuta Gurukul] 22nd april : akshaya tritiya Om Gurave Namah Namaste Swee, Akshaya Triteeya does fall on 22nd of this month, that too on a Thursday! The image of Gauri should be gifted to a Brahmana if it is metallic. If it is made of clay, she should immerse it in a tank or a river. This vrata has to be kept for twelve years with due formal resolve to donate and also donate twelve cows for the achievement of her desires. Swarna-Gauri Vrata is to be performed on the third day of the bright half of Sravana. Goddess Bhavani (Golden Image) accompanied by Lord Shiva should be worshipped by means of the 16 (sixteen) Upacaras with a prayer etc. this vrata is to be kept for 16 years and the Udyapana (concluding rite of the vrata) by performing worship of Ganesha and other Gods with a flat copper-plate over the water pot with scents, fragrant flowers and perform Homa. Sixteen bamboo baskets shall be filled with sweet dishes and cooked rice offered to the Devi as Naideya and distributed amongst Brahmanas , kinsmen and relatives. The full benefit of this vrata can be attained by gifting the golden image to the preceptor and other monetary gifts to the other Brahmanas. (No expenses should be spared for this vrata). ______________________ The third day of the bright half of the month of Jyestha is known as Rambha. On that day, one should duly worship and honour an excellent Brahmana accompanied by his wife. With the desire of conjugal blessedness, a woman should perform this holy rite and worship the Brahmana couple with scents, fragrant flowers, silken garments etc. It yields wealth, sons and auspicious inclinations towards Dharma. _________________________ For conjugal bliss, on the third day of the bright half of the month of Ashadha, the lady should worship Keshava accompanied by Lakshmi, symbolized or represented in a Brahmana accompanied by his wife. She should propitiate them with meals, charitable gifts of cows, clothes and ornaments (and pleasing words). By observing this vrata, the lady shall be blessed with wealth and food grains. There are lots more for all the months throughout the year………….but one thing is certain: none of the Vratas stated in Narada Purana Part IV Chapter 112 suggests any observance during the dark half of any of the months for the third day (Tritiya Tithi). Even my " Udipi Shri Krishna Panchang " says on 22nd is Akshaya Triteeya and Parashurama Jayanti. It is Shukla Paksha,3rd day Saubhagya Yoga and Taitila Karana,Krittika Nakshatra. Guest guest
Dear Laxmi, Thank you for sending the data. You were running Rahu-Ketu- Jup/Sat around that time. Mercury is exalted on navamsha. Transit Saturn aspects natal Saturn and Jupiter also Natal Mercury. Connection with 9th and Vishnu is apparent. Balaji has graced you in Tirupati. Chandrashekhar.
