Hari Om Namo Viswarupaya

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello Jyotisha's
I have been studying Hora periods of the day and have no clarity on
this.... I have read Narasimha's info in his book, Sanjay's books,
Visti's article which includes Tattva periods, and Freedom's
articles that depict Kalacharka, Lesson 6 from Sanjay, Message
4594, etc. yet clarity on this subject and it's applications allude
me.
This is so fundamental to own and comprehend this knowledge - I look
to the Guru's for their insight and learning.
The differences in definition i.e. when to use Yama defined times
and when to use MahaKala ( assume from Kalacharka) defined times.
Kaala for Remedial Measures using Kala Charaka indications?
Yama for the start of an action???
Let me see if I can articulate my issue in the 4 points below ( if
some one can recommend a book on this subject it will be most
welcome).
1. Sanjay's Explanation from Varga Charka, pp 39-41:
Yama follows the sun - so sunrise and sunset times are important
for start times - and there are 24 hora in a day, distributed
equally.
MahaKaal does not follow the sun, but uses local time(6AM) for the
start. The day and night durations have 12 hours each.
>> Question:
When do you use one over the other - that is, the hora has (2) 12
hora segments, yet in the discssions below we divide the day into
(2) 8 period segments.
2. Now, Narasimha describes (In Vedic Astrology book, pp 35-37) as
the day divided into 8 parts for the ownership of the Graha's - 8
for day ( from sunrise) and 8 for night (from sunset). and follows
the day of the week e.g.Sun, moon, Mars, Merc, Jup, Ven, Sat then NO
LORD for any part following Sani.
>>Question:
a. Should the NO Lord part assigned to Rahu???
b. The sequence of the times follow the days of the week and
make sense, yet this is not the case when compared to Hora
times where the sequence is based upon planet speed from
Saturn, Jupiter, Mars.... moon. Why the difference?
3. Visti's article (from a work shop I think) defines Pancha Tattwa
and also discusses 8 cycles in a day and night corresponding to the
8 Yama from Sun to Rahu, beginning with the vara lording the day.
>> Question:
a. is this the same sequence as Narasimha's definition - with
RAHU being the owner of the division FOLLOWING Saturn?
b. The sequence of a day begins with the day lord e.g. Monday
starts with Moon, then following the Kalacharka sequence next
in line - Rahu, Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus and
Saturn , Correct?
4. Freedom's article - on his web site http://www.shrifreedom.com/
Kalacharka and picking time for puja for Upaya. He divides the
day into 8 periods with the lord of the day first, then following
the Kalacharka order of grahas. Freedom also suggests the use of
these periods for remedial measures.
The Sequence follows Kalacharka , yet is different then Narasimha's
sequence that follows the days of the week.
Any help is welcomed!!!
patu sarvaih svarupair nah sada sarvatra sama-gah
May the Lord, who is all-pervasive in His various forms, protect us
everywhere.
Dear Frank,
From What I understand,
In a hour(hora) ruled by a graha the Bhava ruled by the graha gets
activated. Example it's good to meet a doctor/Jyotish in hora ruled by
ones Lagna. Hour(hora) can be equated to Weekday's. There is a dictum
from Muhurtha Chintamani which states the What's is prescribed to
performed in on certain weekday(vara) can be done in same Hora as an
alternative. For example if certain Activitiy is to best performed on
Thursday it can alternatively(only as substitute) be done the Jupiter
Hora of any day.
The Kaalas (1.5 hrs and Yamas of 1/8 of day portion) are 8 follow the
Kaalchakra or Ashtadala Padma. These time portions activates the Graha
s (versus hora which activates the houses/Bhava) and the 8th Chara
Kaaraka in the Chart. Lets take an example. Since Weekday(like Hora)
activates the sign, Lets assumes one's Rahu is in Aries Then the Rahu
Kaalam(Yama) on Tuesdays(Mar's House) will be very prominent to bring
the effects of Rahu's in that Natives' Chart.
All Religious activities are best performed as per sun rise so Yama
(dividing sunset-sunrise/8) is best for propintiation.
Now coming to Narasimhaji's qoute you gave. There is a another way of
asigning rulers the eight portions of the day. This is in Weekday
order (Vaara Chakra like). These give the chaya graha which are
children of the Graha. Like Kala, Yamagantaka, Ardapraha,Gullika and
Mandi. These indicate the day portions when the children of that graha
will be active, For Example Muhurtha should not be chosen in Gullika
kaalam. Because at that time the Ultra Malefic son of Saturn Gullika
will be rising in the ascendant at that given place.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Warm Regards
Sanjay P.
Namaskar Sanjay P
Your post was very useful..I thank you and will continue my research
on this.
DO you perhaps have any data on calculating the Tattva's for
specific times? is Hora used? Kalachakra?
