Isn't Gold's karaka Jupiter? 'Devatanamrshinancha gurum kanakasannibham...'.

I thought Copper's karaka was Sun: the reddish hue and the fire element

together...

Dear Jyotishas,

Even though some classics seems to associate Mars with Gold. I would think

that Copper's kaarka is Mars. If one refers the properties of Copper it

seems to be a mars kaarka. Also my thought is Gold's karaka is Sun.

Regarding the association of Copper by Mars, My guess would be that Mars

exalts Sun. So use of copper can enhance Sun's energy.

 

All Smelting work in general which involves Fire and engineering is ruled

by Mars. Which all agree.

I thought the Guru stotra reads as " Devaanam cha rishi naam cha gurum

kanchana sannibham | Buddhi bootam trilokasya tham namami brihaspatim

|| " I don't see a link to gold here. Am I missing something?

Devatanamrshinancha gurum kanaka sannibham

Vandyabhutam trilokesham tam namami brhaspatim.

 

Both kanchan and kanaka mean gold. Even the dhyana from Skanda Purana begins

thus: " Kanakaruchira gouram charumurtim prasannam...: "
