Swoccha/ To Narasimhaji

Dear Narasimhaji,

For BPHS swoocha statement you mentioned the possibility of the word

'swoccha' to mean both own and exalted house.

 

In this regards, While reading Daivagnya Vallabha I came accross this

following stanza for planetary moods.

 

|| 1 prashnaavataaraadhyaayaH||

 

svochche diipto nIche diinaH svagR^ihe vyavasthitaH svasthaH |

mudito mitragR^ihastho ripugehastho bhavetsuptaH|| 4||

 

I do understand that swoccha when broken down as swa+uccha can be

own+exalted.

 

But here, The word Swoccha is used by Varahmihira for exaltation house

only and uses Svagrihe for own house.

 

Just wanted to know your views on this.

Dear Sanjay

It is evident that Swaoocha means exaltation but we should bear in mind that Varahamihira never read BPHS (as claimed by experts).
