Dear Sanjay P,

Thanks for helping me out with this translation. Let us see how we can

piece this together based on your translation of the words;

First line: Janma lagna be calculated with reference to place of

birth. here I have used 'called' to mean 'calculated'.

Second line: bhava, hora and other special lagnas act uniformly.

The translation I have says " The natal lagna is to be calculated

according to birth place while the bhava, hora lagna etc are common to

all places "

Somehow I do not agree with this latter translation. The reason is

that the time of sunrise also depends on the place.

Please give your opinion on this.

Dear Hari,

My comments given below,

SanjayP: The First line says the Natal lagna is non-uniform and

depends on the location. i.e Lagna should be conjoined sun in morning,

and should be exactly 180 degrees away at Sunset. Even if days are

longer or shorter the 180degree traversal should be equal to day/night

duration.

Whereas the Bhava,Hora etc(Ghatika, Pranapada etc) are calculated

uniformly from Sunrise time. i.e Just find the Ghatika's passed from

Sunrise and multiply/divide appropriately in uniform proportion.

Dear Hari,

I think you are reffering to calculations of Bhava Hora Lagna etc. It

means:

" The natal Lagna is to be calculated according to birthplace, while

Bhava Lagna, Hora Lagna etc. are common to all places. "

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Hari,

It means write the horoscope with various special ascendants in Lagna

and keep the planets as they are in Rasis occupied by them. then

analyze the special ascendants charts in the same manner as Natal Lagna

Chart.

Chandrashekhar.

Dear Sri Chandrasekhar,

Thank you for your opinion regarding the translation of the shloka. Is

this advice of Parasara implemented strictly, at least among the older

generation of Jyotisas?
