I agree with you on following Parasara and ignoring others (including the great Varahamihira!), when others contradict Parasara. However, we need to distinguish between situations where other authors are SUPPLEMENTING Parasara's teachings and where they are CONTRADICTING.

For example, if one authority says that the 2nd house shows wealth and another authority says that the 2nd house shows speech, they are not contradicting each other. They are merely supplementing each other's teachings. Both are correct.

When Parasara says that the third house stands for hands, you cannot conclude that it stands for hands ALONE and nothing else. The question is simple. When Parasara said that the 3rd house stands for hands, did he explicitly say that it does not stand for anything else? If not, can you use Parasara's name to prove Varahamihira wrong?

In fact, there are too many highly respected classics that link chest to the 3rd house. You have to think hard before rejecting that view. For example, "Brihat Jatakam", "Phala Deepika", "Jataka Parijatam" and "Sarvartha Chintamani" all teach that the 3rd house is the chest of Kaala Purusha. You seem to think that this is a contradiction of Parasara. But, if someone else thinks that there is no contradiction and only supplementing of teachings, I have no valid reason to dismiss them.

This is a very good and interesting point!

Dear Narasimha & Lakshmi

Puri is so cooling - thank god I am here. You cannot imagine how it feels when one leaves a city where blood has replaced water time and again. Delhi sure has some very heavy karma.

Of course, of course. Please see my mail where I have not only talked about 3rd but ALSO SECOND house for breathing. How can we breathe without a hole in the face. Why only third house - in fact it covers 2,3 & 4.

Lakshmi is right about the 3rd house and she has *not yet* given the argument about the Kalachakra where Rahu is opposite to Mercury and hence Rahu is prime cause of all chest related complications which come under Gemini which is the *Vayu Rasi*. Breathing has to do wtih gemini but the distribution of oxygen has to do with Cancer.

Now which of these is getting afflicted and why and which Nadi and which Srota and whihc dhatu...I don't know as I am not so good with all this medical terms. I aways hated this subject as I was frightened of cutting frogs in school. Thank god I never did it.

Now those of you who are good at cutting frogs and the like should discuss this and arrive at some final conclusion. I have contributed what I know and beyond this Brendan alone can do some good.

Lakshmi, honestly we are better off sticking to Spirituality and normal things in Jyotish as this Ayurveda is one area if I indulge in too much many could die...

With kind regards,

Sanjay Rath

Om Gurave Namah

Dear Gurudeva,

You are cute..God bless you!

I really don't know if one ought to say things like

that to one's Guru, but I feel like saying it very

much! Please forgive me this once.

Yes, for folks like us, spirituality is the best.

Regards,

Lakshmi
