Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Jyotishas, I came across this interesting teaching from Srimad Bhagvatam about Atma given to Bhakta Prahlaada. [sB 7.7.19 to .20] The Atma has 12 properties. 1. nityah--without birth or death 2. avyayah--with no possibility of dwindling 3. suddhah--without the material contamination of attachment and detachment 4. ekah--individual 5. ksetra-jnah--who knows and is therefore different from the material body 6. âsrayah--the original foundation 7. avikriyah--not undergoing changes like the body 8. sva-drk--self-illuminated [Or Self Directed on its own will] 9. hetuh--the cause of all causes [Or the one who intends, By whose intention everything happens] 10. vyâpakah--spreading throughout the body in the form of consciousness 11. asangî--not depending on the body (free to transmigrate from one body to another) [One who needs nobodies support] 12. anâvrtah--not covered by material contamination; [The comments in square brackets are from myself] This brings out the important correlation between atma and 12 Adityas(dwadasa aditya). Thus the entire zodiac is present within the atma. Just some points to ponder. Guest guest
|| Om Gurave Namah || Dear Hari, I knew such questions would come up. It depends on whether you take Atma as nirguna or saguna. But anyhow if you take it as Nirguna, Think of this description as just an attempt to word what cannot be expressed (Then how do you count 12? if it cannot be expressed?!)
