Guest guest
Respected astrologers I understand that from Monday, 15 Sept. it is 2 weeks of offering for our pitrus. I was planning to start fasting for a goddess from Friday onwards. Is it alright to start a fast during these times or do I need to wait until the pitru offering time is finished. When does it finish? Thank you. Regards Maiden
Guest guest
Dear Maiden, Om Namo Narayana. Fasting for any particular purpose or in oder to seek blessings of a particular Deity falls under the category of " Kamya Vrata " . The Vrata is but a resolve to carry out certain acts including omissions. These are also undertaken as part of Parva (Festivity Events). But your Vrata is " Kamya " , that is directed at achievement of a particular object and hence it has its own rules . for example it is to be carried out on Friday or commence at Friday etc etc. It therefore has no " Pradesh " as such. Only thing is that there should not be a " Sootak " (defilement due to certain happenings like during menstrual cycle, death of some relation, birth of a child, in the family etc) or detraction, weakness etc. The Fortnight of the Menes (Pitri Paksha) or " Shraadha " as it is called in Inda, is a " Parva " and which occurs on fixidity of time, that is Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada Month when the full moon will occur in Bhadrapada Nakashtra in Pisces. This year, it commences from Bhadra Poornima on 15 Sep and will be over on 29 Sep 08 on " Somawati Amavasya " . Panchaka are from 13 to 17 Sep. You Friday is unblemished. The Pavia does not effect election astrology for a Vratta, pertulary Kamya Vratta. The only determinant perhaps is Friday. I hope it clarifies your understanding. Have a nice Britta. vedic astrology , " icymaiden2000 " <icymaiden2000 wrote: > > Respected astrologers > > I understand that from Monday, 15 Sept. it is 2 weeks of offering for > our pitrus. Guest guest
Shobna Ji Thank you for your response and clarification. As I understand it, it is alright to commence fasting during the Shard period. Could you please clarify what you mean by saying " The only determinant perhaps is Friday " . Thank you.
