Announcing a Jaimini Scholar Program

With Sat Siri Khalsa beginning Sept 2008

For the first time outside of a few Brahmin families in Orissa, the real deep

secrets of Maharishi Jaimini's Upadesa Sutras are being taught. Upadesa Sutras

is a priceless classic explaining the method of applying many of the techniques

found in Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra (BPHS). For hundreds of years, even Indian

astrologers have been wondering and guessing what Parasara and Jaimini meant.

Such was the confusion that many thought Jaimini had created his own tradition

separate from that of Parasara. However, the word “Upadesa” (“instructions from

the master”) clearly indicates that the sutras are the teaching of the tradition

coming down from Parasara. Maharishi Jaimini has explained many of the teachings

of BPHS as well as many insights which would not otherwise be identified from

BPHS.

The Jaimini Scholar program is a four year course going through each of the

sutras and unpacking their profound astrological meanings. It draws on the work

of the outstanding contemporary Pandit, Sanjay Rath, who is descended from a

line of traditional jyotishis and has written a groundbreaking translation of

the Jaimini Upadesa Sutras.

Each year of the program relates to one of the four Vedas and is taught as a

separate module. This program will challenge participants to go much deeper

with their astrological studies as well as integrating jyotish with their own

individual spiritual practice, whatever it may be. The spirituality of the

Vedas as expressed in the jyotish classics is the central theme of the program.

Year One of the Jaimini scholar program involves 28 principal lessons and

several subsidiary lessons will be taught primarily online

In addition students will have access to the original audio lectures of Sanjay

Rath teaching Jaimini Sutras in the Himalayas. This is the format decided on to

best spread this valuable knowledge throughout the world. The lectures will be

accessed through the Devaguru Brihaspati Centre/Jaimini Scholar online at

http://sohamsa.com/js/

Who are the instructors? The course proper will start early in October with

weekly online two hour classes led by Sat Siri Khalsa. Sat Siri has been a

longtime faculty member of the American College of Vedic Astrology as well as

being a board member of the Council of Vedic Astrology. A graduate of Harvard

University, she has been a practitioner of Sikh Dharma and teaching Kundalini

Yoga and meditation as well as being a well known astrologer. Sat Siri is taking

Pandit Rath’s course in person and with his encouragement is then leading each

module for other interested students. The group will receive the same extensive

lessons as the Scholars who are studying in person with Pt. Rath.

Will I get a certificate when I finish?
