Request to consider to bring a Visheshank on Jyotish

 

 

Respecte Sir,

 

I would like to bring to your kind attention to consider for bringing out a

special issue of Gita Press Varshik Visheshank on " JYOTISH VIDYA " . The Puranas,

such as Vishnu Puran, Agni Puran, Narad Smriti etc. are so full of a rich

knowledge of Jyotish Vidya, and Jyotish is considered Ved Chakshu. I hope you

will be able to present this idea to your scholars to start compiling the right

authors, and materials to plan a " Jyotish Vidya Visheshank " from Vedas, Purans,

Smritis, as well as Granthas like Surya Siddhanta, Bhrihad Sanhita, Vedang

Jyotish etc. There is a very rich heritage of Jyotish in Valmiki Ramayan (Shri

Ram's Birth), Tulsi Ramayan (various Shakun/ Asagun etc., Shri Ram's birth),

Bhagavad Puran (Krishna Janma in Rohini Nakshatra, and subsquently various

Bala-Arishta), RigVeda and Vedang Jyotish of Maharshi Lagdha - and numerous

scattered instances where Jyotish is narrated. Muhurta Shastra, Brihad Sanhita

(by Varah Mihir) etc. are ample examples, of Jyotish Shastra in wide spread use

all throughout the ages. All the Hindu Festivals, Vratas, and the whole Hindu

Society is operated by Jyotish Shastra. In Mahabharat also, Bhishma Pitamah

waited until Uttarayan started. I would like to ernestly request to kindly

consider to bring out, first of all some articles in Kalyan; and subsquently,

the whole " Visheshank on Jyotish " , primarily based upon Vedic texts. In

Mahabharat also, before war started, there were many astrological planetary

indication which were narrated in ample detail in Mahabharat.

 

I would hope that some one from your editorial department will take a note of

this request, and respond.
