Dear Pranav and others,

 

Astrologer Ernst Wilhelm had on his old site a list of combinations

(yogas) for Mental Derangements.

The page did not contain any copywrite note and as we are all here for

the purpose of learning, I assume that no harm is done by placing this

list here (in good faith) for the benefit of all.

1. Guru in lagna, Kuja in 7th; one suffers from insanity or madness.

3. Chandra in 12th with Rahu and another malefic and a benefic is in

the 8th; one suffers from lunacy and is full of anger and quarrels.

4. Chandra in 12th with Sani; then insanity must be predicted.

13. Birth on Saturday or Tuesday, Suyra and Chandra in the 9th, 5th,

or 1st; Guru in the 3rd or an angle; one will be fickle minded like a

mad cap.

14. Initial portion of Dhanus is Lagna, Suyra and Chandra in lagna or

a trine, and Guru in the 3rd or an angle, one will become insane.

15. Birth in hora of Sani or Kuja, Surya and Chandra together in

lagna, 5th or 9th, and Guru in angle; gives mental illness.

16. Chandra and Budha in an angle without the conjunction or aspect of

another planet; causes Paischacha Yoga which makes one mad.

17. Chandra and Budha in angles without any conjunction, or without

the aspect of the angular lords; causes Paischacha Yoga which makes

one mad.

18. Sukra and Chandra in angle while A malefic is in either the 5th or

8th ; causes MahaGada Yoga which causes insanity.

19. Suyra in lagna, Kuja in 7th; one will become insane.

20. Chandra with a malefic and Rahu occupies the 12th, 5th, or 8th;

one will be liable to insanity and that of a raging kind and will

develop a tendency to quarrel.

21. Gulika with Buddha; one will be insane.

22. Chandra with Sani, aspected by Kuja; one gets dementia.

23. Chandra and Rahu in 8th ; one gets dementia.

24. Sani and Kuja together in 6th or 8th ; one gets dementia.

25. Chandra, Kuja and Surya in 1st or 8th aspected by a malefic;

causes one to suffer from dementia.

26. Birth during eclipse, Sani and Kuja in 8th or 6th and Guru not in

trines; one gets dementia.

27. Chandra in 6th and Rahu in lagna; then one gets dementia.

28. Surya and Chandra in lagna or a trine and birth on Saturdday or

Tuesday; one suffers from mental derangement.

29. Sani and Guru are in kendra and birth is on Saturday or Tuesday;

one suffers from mental derangement.

30. Chandra and Budha in angle and not in any benefic navamsa; one

gets mental derangement; one shows wonder and astonishment and is

confused.

31. Chandra and Sani aspected by Budha occupying the lagna; one is

mentally disturbed.

32. Candra in 6th with Kuja; one suffers from mental aberrations and

jaundice.

33. Sani and 2nd lord with Surya or Kuja; gives mental illness.

34. Mandi in 7th (or 5th) afflicted by a malefic; gives mental illness.

35. Guru in lagna and Kuja in 7th; makes one over excited bordering on

madness.

36. Sani in lagna, Kuja in 6th, 8th or 12th ; the native shall always

be excited.

37. Chandra and Surya in a trine and Guru in angle; one shall loose

his mental balance on a Saturday, Tuesday or Monday.

38. Surya, Chandra, Buddha, Guru, Sukra, and Sani combined; give the

effect of headache, a constitutional disposition to madness, dwelling

in solitude and in a foreign country.

39. Sani in the 5th bhava; one will be insane, longlived, unhappy and

fickle, but virtuous and victorious over his enemies.

40. Sukra in Simha aspected by Chandra; one will present obsequial

water to his step mother, will be miserable on account of women, be

rich and will have various kinds of mental dispositions.

 

Psychophysical

1. Malefic in Lagna and the lagna lord devoid of strength; one will be

afflicted with diseases - both bodily and mental.

2. Chandra, weak, with Sani in the 8th; then one suffers from

psychophysical complaints.

3. Rahu and Sani in lagna; then one suffers from psychophysical

complaints.

4. Ketu in lagna influenced by a malefic; one has to e careful about

psychophysical complaint or thieves.

 

Addictions

1. Sani, Kuja, Surya, Chandra respectively in 8th, 6th, 2nd, and 12th

; one shows nymphophobia or nymphomania.

2. 3rd lord eclipsed, debilitated, or in 6th aspected by a malefic;

one suffers from mental deviations caused by narcotic drugs.

 

This is a commonly occurring combination which I haven't found it to

be reliable.

3. Sani, Chandra and Surya in angles; one will be idiotic and addicted

to wine.

 

Demons

1. Chandra eclipsed by Rahu in birth and evil planets in trines; one

suffers from devils.

2. Sani in Lagna with Rahu; then the trouble is from pischaach. Tramp

soul.

3. Ketu in lagna aspected by many malefics; then one suffers from

pischaach, witches, and thieves.

4. Chandra eclipsed in lagna and malefics in trines; one is of a devil

kind.

5. Chandra waning in the 8th with Kuja, Sani, or Rahu; then there will

be trouble from demoniacal possession, fire or water.

6. Rahu or Ketu in the 7th, with a malefic planet and aspected by

another malefic planet; produces demoniac possession

 

Witches

1. Sani or Rahu in lagna; one will suffer from evils caused by witches.

 

Notes on Affliction of Chandra and Budha

 

1. No aspect between Chandra and Buddha.

2. Chandra and Budha are not favorable disposed from the lagna, and

afflicted.

3. If Sani is the afflictor in a day birth epilepsy is likely.

4. If Rahu is the afflictor in a night birth insanity is likely.

5. If Mars is the afflictor in a night birth then epilepsy is likely.

6. If Mars is the afflictor in a day birth then insanity is likely.

7. Afflictions in Kanya and Meena are undesirable.

8. In epilepsy the lagna is usually afflicted as well.

Dear Jay,

 

The orientations/combinations/conjunctions/yogas mentioned are too

basic.

Just for an example only:

1. Guru in lagna, Kuja in 7th; one suffers from insanity or madness.-

Pt. Sanjay Rath, according to me far from being insane or mad.

 

I am aware of people with the orientations mentioned in points 2, 4

& 6 and they are far from being mad.

 

It would be great if we can substantiate our theories (or even if

from the classics) with examples and mention the exceptions to the

rule as well.

No offence - I have only copied the list " as is " - and can understand

your " defensive " reaction.

I don't need to mention what lack of knowing the basics means in

Jyotish (how would anyone become 'advanced' without the basics ?)

 

However, IF you read the text carefully, you may discover that it is a

" translation " and NOT an original text, which may suggest that it was

translated " as is " (words).

 

Using English in the correct way, you may (among others) also add the

word " obsession " to the example, which is from my experience with this

combination.

 

I have a lot of respect for Sanjay, which I have known through the

Jyotish lists since back in 1996 and very well aware of his work,

activities etc.

 

Wouldn't you say that Sanjay is possessed by the mission of spreading

Jyotish to the limit that his life is dedicated to it ?

I certainly would! - and in large!

 

Now, many people would say that this is " insane " or that he is " mad " -

which we know is not the case as we are " on another level " and may

name " possessed " in a positive way.

 

Ketu in the AL indicates mistakes or/and misunderstandings (as seen by

others), none the less Moon (L 5th) in the 12th shows the quest for

knowing the ultimate reality and becoming " super spiritual " AND at the

same time creates problems (i.e. secret enemies, 12H) from among his

own students (5th).

 

Both Jupiter and Mars as well as Rahu aspect AL by rasi dirsti...

(I'll spare the details as you may easily figure it out)

Dear Jay,

 

No offence from me either and trust me I am not at all defensive.

 

All I say is that I believe it is high time we as a community

substatiate theories/dictum's from classics with substantial

evidence and exceptions to the rule, if any. Any research in any

field demands the same and I humbly believe jyotish too should not

be left out in that list.
