Guest guest
Dear Sanjay Rath (and Robert Koch) Hare Krsna I have a question about the mahamantra. Can it give negative effects (materially speaking)? The mahamantra is Hare Krsna,Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It consists of 16 words which refers to 4th house. (12 +4) It contains 32 consononats which refers to 8th house (12+12+8) My understanding from your earlier teachings was that chanting this mantra will get energy from 4th house and give it to 8th house. In my chart I have 4 planets in the 4th house opposing my AL in 10th house. In my chart my 8th house is also 11th from AL. Will chanting this mantra cause my opponents to diminish and for me to have gains? Or am I reading this wrongly. Best wishes Kasim ! Hare Krsna ! Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Kasim, Hare Krsna - With Sanjay's permission, I would like to answer this question. The study of mantras and their effects based on the number of their words as well as syllables helps us to understand the action of the mantra so far as the Jyotish chart is concerned. When the soul requires help or protection, he prays to Krsna Who offers that protection in the form of the Maha Mantra. Given that there are 16 syllables in the mantra, the origin of the mantra thus is the 4th house (16-12 = 4). Taking the number of syllables, we arrive at the 8th house which is the direction of the mantra, or in other words, where it does its work (32 - 24 = 8). This suggests that, by His grace, Sri Krsna destroys the sins of the chanter as in this way he can be protected from the harsh thrashing of material action and reaction (Karmas). Counting 5 houses from the 8th (since the 8th is five houses from the 4th), we arrive at the 12th house, which is the house of Moksa, and which is the Devata-Sthana, or the abode of the Deity of Sri Krsna. Moksa in this respect is permanent, i.e. full liberation, and not that of Kaivalya or Brahma realization, which, according to Srimad Bhagavatam is not permanent. In this way we can see the relationship of the mantra and the symbolisms of the Jyotish chart. However, it is very important to never consider that the transcendental sound vibration of the Maha mantra has anything to do with material, negative effects. Such think can lead to Nama-aparadha, or offense at the feet of the Holy name, the results of which the mantra will have no benefit at all. I hope this helps - Best wishes, Robert At 07:20 AM 4/12/2007, you wrote: Dear Sanjay Rath (and Robert Koch) Hare Krsna I have a question about the mahamantra.
