Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Voja, to make this easier-do we count hraum as one or two syllables? The definition of syllable is based on a vowel (distinctive features of vocality+ and sonority+) or those phonemes whose acustic value is similar to that of vowels` (vocality- and sonority+) that enables them to carry prosodic features of the words. So is it hr+aum or just hraum? Warm regards, Tijana sohamsa , " Voya Traykovic " <vojatrajananda wrote: > > > Hraum namah Vivasvate > > Dear Tijana and Rafal, > > as you can remember from Guruji's lecture in Novi Sad Hraum is > > ha (akasa bija) + ra (agni bija) + om > > so why to add om? > > Best wishes, > > Voja >
Guest guest
Hraum namah Vivasvate Dear Tijana, au is diphtong, and it is counted as one syllable. Hraum is H+Ra+Om, according to Sandhi rules in Sanskrit a+o=au Best wishes, Vojasohamsa , "nix_nixen" <nix_nixen wrote:>> Om Gurave Namah> Dear Voja,> to make this easier-do we count hraum as one or two syllables?> The definition of syllable is based on a vowel (distinctive features > of vocality+ and sonority+) or those phonemes whose acustic value is > similar to that of vowels` (vocality- and sonority+) that enables > them to carry prosodic features of the words. > So is it hr+aum or just hraum? > Warm regards,> Tijana> > sohamsa , "Voya Traykovic" vojatrajananda@ > wrote:> >> > > > Hraum namah Vivasvate> > > > Dear Tijana and Rafal,> > > > as you can remember from Guruji's lecture in Novi Sad Hraum is> > > > ha (akasa bija) + ra (agni bija) + om> > > > so why to add om?> > > > Best wishes,> > > > Voja> >>
Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah Dear Voja, Every diphtong consists of a basic vowel and secondary vowel and it`s one phoneme (it`s important not to confuse phoneme and sound as phoneme represents sum of very specific distinctive acustic features, maximum 9). One phoneme again can constitute a syllable only if a vowel. This is clear and it wasn`t the reason of my confusion. It was about hr (as R has the nature of a vowel-can hold an accent). Anyway, it`s clear now. Warm regards, Tijana Voya Traykovic <vojatrajananda wrote: Hraum namah Vivasvate Dear Tijana, au is diphtong, and it is counted as one syllable.
