The degree of the Varnada Lagna is then designated as the degree of lagna. Example: if Lagna and Hora Lagna is in Aquarius then we add the two signs, i.e. 11+11=22nd sign or 10th sign. As lagna is an odd sign we should count to the tenth sign regularly from Aries, i.e. Capricorn. The lagna degree is 9:54, so the Varnada lagna becomes 9:54 Capricorn. At present i'm using 'apparent upper limb' as the sunrise calculation. This may need adjustment as i've been told that my chart seems more correct with Hora Lagna in Libra. This would then give Varnada Lagna in Aquarius as you said. Its that parivartana between the Sun and Mars which throws off my chart.
