Guest guest
Namaste Sri SoulFrom the description given, it looks like Ma Gajalakshmi with deepam (bowl). It is perfectly fine, in my view, to keep the idol in the puja room. Thanks and RegardsBharat On Nov 30, 2007 7:13 PM, Soul Sadhak <soulsadhak wrote: Dear All, Please can anyone advise what shd i do with an idol gifted to me on Diwali - it is supposed to be Maa Lakshmi - but just for description, it is a female deity sitting on a lotus in front of 2 elephants, holding, with 2 hands, a bowl that is empty! the other 2 hands hold a lotus each. I also don't understand why would Maa Lakshmi is depicted with empty bowl in her hands! I dont think i wud be able to keep it on my puja altar - but at the same time i dont want to risk any problem that may happen if i simply dispose it off. So please can anyone advise what wud be the proper way to deal with this? Many thanx SS
Guest guest
Namaste Sri SoulIn such a case you can gift it to a person whom you think needs to worship Ma Lakshmi OR you can donate it to a Punditji making sure he would worship the idol. I had a very rare idol of Lord Shiva, doing tandava with his 3rd eye open and the other eyes closed. You could sense the vibrations from a distance. I always thought I wasn't doing justice to it by doing minimal puja and japam. Our family is visited by pundits from Sri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga Temple every year and I finally donated it to the one of the main purohits of the temple. They assured me that such an Idol of Prabhu Shiva would be properly worshiped. Perhaps you can do the same. Why do you want to do visarjana? Thanks and RegardsBharatOn Dec 1, 2007 12:04 PM, Soul Sadhak <soulsadhak > wrote: thanx for the insight, Bharat. The problem however is also that my puja altar is already so full i feel helpless in that matter - i also have a big picture of Lord Panduranga, again gifted by someone - and i dont know what to do with it - so it is just lying packed! I wud like to know if i can give these to some temple (at least there it will be taken care of / worshipped) or do visrajana in running water - or what?
