Dear Friends,

Can someone kindly explain the effect of Nutition in the Khullar Ayanamsa with an example of any DOB, as it is not possible to find out.

Thanks and regards,

TW

Mr. Khullar,myself and Dr. Srikant Ojha have studied various books and articleswritten by highly knowledgeable astronomers and have come to the conclusion that Newcomb's Ayanamsa calculated linearly using the rate of precession 50.2388475 secs per year and applying Nutation gives best results.

3. I may like to draw your attention to Mr. MC khare's article in Astrology and Athrishta magazine probably 1980 issue. Mr. Khullar has followed the Ayanamsa values accordingly.

AyanKP = (50.2388475/3600)*((YR-292)+(261/365)+(((MN-1)*30+DY)/365))

YR stands for year

MN stands for Month

DY stands for Day

I use the Ayanamsa as calculated by this formula.

As a matter of interest, the Khullar ayanamsa uses the Newcomb fixed precession rate of 50.2388475 seconds per year. like Mr. K.S .Krishnamurti and the starting date of 15 April 291 A.D. when the Tropical and Sidereal zodiacs coincided, also like Mr. K.S. Krishnamurti. However, Mr. Khullar uses the "straight-line" method to determine the ayanamsa for a particular date and does not use precession corrected values in the formula, as used in both KP Original and KP New (2003). The Khullar ayanamsa results in a value that is closer to Lahiri than to the KP Original ayanamsa. Additionally, Mr. Khullar uses longitude values where "nutation" has been subtracted. This is now an option in Astracadabra v1.7 but not in many other astrology programs.

Astracadabra, Release Notes

* Added the Annual Precession Correction (Ann.Prec.) option on the Calcs. Tab in the Options area so that a user can choose the correction value or use zero correction, as in the Khullar (or KP Straight Line) ayanamsa system.

* Added option to subtract the Nutation value from the planet longitudes in the Options > Calcs area, so that planet longitudes match those of the Khullar system.

Nutation (from Latin: nûtâre, to nod) is a slight irregular motion (etymologically a "nodding") in the axis of rotation of a largely axially symmetric object, such as a gyroscope, planet, or bullet in flight. A pure nutation is a movement of the rotation axis such that the first Euler angle (precession) is constant.

Rotation (green), Precession (blue) and Nutation in obliquity (red) of the Earth

Nutation is a "wobble" in the motion of the earth. This nutation can be decomposed into two components - one along the ecliptic and the other along obliquity. The value that we use in the formula is probably the ecliptic component
