Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear All, At one point I had a better web site , but cant find it now for referencing what happened at various points in time around the world, Here is one anyway, if someone wants to see what was happening during previous eclipse etc http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/History_n2/a.html Best wishes Lakshmi Awhile back, and it is in the Jyotish Digest( hope you are all d) Sanjay authored a great article in Eclipses there was alot of excellent info in it"M. Sage Varahamihira thoroughly delineated the astrological impacts ofeclipses on mundane affairs in Chapter 5 of his magnum opus BrihatSamhita (BS). There he also discussed the visibility and shape ofeclipse disc in detail. Later he gave the results of eclipseoccurring, in various lunar months and signs. Some of his aphorisms on Eclipses are hereunder.Should there be two eclipses (solar and a lunar) in same (lunar?)month, kings would be destroyed as a result of revolt (of their army);and there would be bloody battles.(BS Chapter 5, Verse 26)Should the luminaries rise of set being eclipsed (i.e. eclipse at thetime of sun/moon rise or set), there would danger to autumnal crops aswell as to kings. On the other hand, if the eclipse should also betotal and the eclipsed orb is aspected by (natural) malefics as well, there would be famine and pestilence all over the country. (BS Chapter 5, Verse 27)According to Varahamihira, eclipse yields more malign results when anyother transiting natural malefic planet(s) conjunct or aspect theunder-eclipsed luminaries. In practice, I found, eclipse casts definite and prompt mundaneresults when falls in the bhava-madhya (cusp) of non-vacant houseOR/AND over radical planet/saham of national chart. The result mayturn severe when eclipse occurs on the weekday of birth. I've also seen the governments, elected or formed in between twoadjacent solar-lunar eclipses of same month, usually come to endbefore completing their tenure. Besides mundane results, every second book of astrology maintains afewpages on result of eclipses on natal chart. By the way, R. Santhanampenned a brief but useful chapter on Eclipse in his "Essential ofPredictive Hindu Astrolgy". He holds that;a) An eclipse, gives auspicious results if it falls on the cusp ofkendara (1,4,7,10) or kona (5,9). [you may wonder to read it, as mostof the astrologers describe this signature a bad omen]b) Eclipse yields evil result if falls on the cusp of dushtana(6,8,12) or 2,3,11 houses.c) Eclipse falling in movable sign (Ar, Cn, Li, Cp) gives promptresults. An eclipse occuring in a fixed sign (Ta, Le, Sc, Aq) giveseffect in one to 3 months. Whereas a dual sign (Ge, Vi, Sg, Pi)eclipse remain valid for 6 months.Regards,M.
