Guest guest
Namaste Reema, I think he is Dr. Maneesh Pandit (Narasimha's guru). No wonder Narasimha's manual on Ganesh Homam matches his vidhi. Guest guest
Namaste, Thanks for the link. Yes, the person in the video is my guru Dr Manish Pandit. He is the same person mentioned in the introduction of the homam manuals as the one instructed by Her to spread homam. He performs homam using a slightly different procedure, but it is mostly similar to what we taught in the manual. The video is only 6 or 7 minutes long. So obviously it is not the entire homam. It is only a part of it. He asked me to record a video just like the audio, with exactly what is in the manual, and put it on the web. But it never worked out so far. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya,My apologies. The link I found embedded in the page from the site sent by Bharathi ji was the same one as already on youtube and is only about 7 mins. The one on the gajanan site is about 22 mins. I was able to retrieve that file in the cache and play with the versatile, and freely available, VLC player. However, I have desisted from attaching this file for fear of infringing any copyright issues. If I receive reassurance and expression of interest, I could at least share the way of going about retrieving the cache file. And if there are no copyright issues involved, we could even upload the file on the forum or youtube. Guest guest
Dear Narasimha Garu, I have been following your postings on the doing homams. However is it advisable to conduct homam at one's home? In one of TV interviews by Sachidananda Babu (astrologer and son of BV Raman) he mnetions that it is not correct to do so. Kindly correct my confusion in this regard. sincere regards Hanmant sohamsa , " Narasimha P.V.R. Rao " <pvr wrote: > > Namaste, > > Thanks for the link. Guest guest
Namaste, Of course, one can conduct a homam at one's home. In fact, a braahmana is supposed to do a minimum agni karyam at home everyday. If not a homam for a deity, atleast start fire and make ahutis to Prajapati, Indra, Agni etc. That much agni kaaryam a brahmin is supposed to do everyday at home. In fact, some people used to not only perform a regular homam at home, but cook right next to homam and take fire from homam to start fire in stove for cooking. Until recently, there were people who were performing homam daily at home. When homam is performed for several special occasions (such a griha pravesam, upanayanam etc), priests do perform homam at home. The practical difficculty is the smoke from homam. It can be uncomfortable for some people. But it is good. Once, Srila Prabhupada was conducting a homam in an apartment in New York. When poornahuti was offered, there was a lot of smoke. When some people were covering their noses, Srila Prabhupada told them, "no no, this smoke is very good for you. Don't cover noses." Those who have trouble with smoke can minimize it by using ghee minimally, avoiding wood completely and relying on dry coconut (copra). Yajnas that are done on a bigger scale for specific material goals are typically not performed inside the house. Those are formal events. You are calling several gods and appeasing them. After all, you want a specific material thing and are doing "business" with them. So some protocols are to be employed. The place should be suitable for all of them to come and do "business" with you. However, a homam done for spiritual growth is a personal and informal affair and not formal business. Your home is perfectly fine. Probably the confusion arises from yajnas. Mr Babu is the son of a great man. But, unfortunately, it is not good karma to spread wrong views that may discourage some people from doing good things. But what to do?
