First of all, I apologize the list members for abusing this forum

for a personal mail.

Sarajit Ji, I have sent you a mail regarding your Jyotish Calc

program. I have been waiting for your reply for the last to days.

Hence, I am just trying this way in hope that you may read this mail

on this forum. I am attaching the message sent to you earlier.

Namaste Sri Sarajit,

 

I am Shanmukha. I am a Electronics engineer and working in Nuclear

Fuel Complex, Dept. Of Atomic Energy, Hyderabad. I used to actively

participate in SJC Hyderabad circle. But, for variours reasons I

have been very passive for the last couple of years.

 

The main issue of this letter is to seek your permission for the

following.

 

As you may know the Chara Dasa calculation accroding to Sri

Iranganti Rangacharya is altogether different from the others like

Sri K.N.Rao and SJC. Sri Rangacharya follows the commentary of

Raghava Bhatta and Nrisimha Suri. This is evident if we read his

translation " Jaimini Sutramritam " . There is another version of Chara

Dasa followed by Astrlogical program called " Jaimini Light " by

MindSutra.com. It is called as Chara Dasa (RB-NS). RB-NS stands for

Raghava Bhatta and Nrisimha Suri.

 

Well, without going into the other issues of whether that method is

correct or not, I was really fascinated by the accuracy of timing

marriage with that method. Of course, I follow the version by

MindSutra.com. I had a couple of discussions with Sri Narasimha

regarding the calculation of this in his Jagannatha Hora. I found a

couple of problems in the computations shown in JHora. Though, I

tried to explain the problems, Sri Narasimha was busy and he told me

that the JHora calculations were correct. As far my understanding of

Chara dasa of Rangacharya, the dasa shall be computed differntly for

female natives, not only the staring dasa sign varies, but also the

no of years of each dasa. There is no option to enter the sex of the

native. Since, with due respect, Narasimha was reluctunt to discuss

and modify the computations, I had to search for a alternative

software for chara dasa computation.

 

Then, I found your " Jyotish Calc Ver 0.1 " and thought I could modify

the program. Then , I learnt Excel VBA Programming and changed your

excel workbook according to my needs. Now, my version of

your " Jyotish Calc " includes two more sheets named " Chara Dasa (RB-

NS) and Info. I had programmed three version of Chara dasa,

namely " Rangacharya " , " MindSutra " and " Experimental " . I have

explained the details in Info worksheet.

 

As Sri B.V.Raman puts it Astrology is both art as well as science.

Hence I feel other versions of Jaimini Commentaries must be studied

and since those works other than Neelakantha are not available to

public, atleast availble information can be tried to bring forth the

truth. As " Saptharishi Astrology " recent edition rightly commented

out that other lagnas like Tripravana Lagna,Divya Lagna and their

usage is not known to so called Jaimini Experts on Internet. I think

we must bring forth those works in manuscript form to help coming

generations. As I am not a professional astrologer and workout the

chart for my understanding of astrology, I try a no. of versions

availble. Of Course, I can be master of none, but interest in

Jaimini is increasing day by day.

 

I used to manually calculate Chara Dasa (RB-NS) and now I use your

modified excel program. So, I request you to let me know whether I

can release this version to public, since it is your code based on

which I added the Chara dasa worksheet. I am attaching the Excel

program with this mail and offer your comments. Please go through

the Info page for the procedure I followed in computation. I learnt

VBA Programming, only to program this, so the code may not look

elegant and forgive me.
