Configuration Discrepancy

Respected List members, NamaskarI was looking at birth data from Astrotheme.com [which has a large database on famous people; if members have any other database to recommend, please do]. However, the JHora produces a chart which is at variance from the configuration that astrotheme gives. E.g., for July 15, 1930, 8:30AM, El Biar, Algeria, astrotheme gives Sun in 22°07 Cancer, AS in 10°36 Virgo, Moon in 11°38 Pisces, MC in 8°23 Gemini, while JHora gives Sun in 29°09 Gemini, AS in 22°34 Cancer, and Moon in 17°48 Aq. I find it hard to think, but then I scarcely have any expertise, how astrotheme configuration might be mapped, unless one drastically fiddles with the coordinates and time. I do trust JHora anyday better than others that I have tried so far. Do learned members have any thoughts? Best

regards,Patheya

|| Om Gurave Namah ||Dear Patheya, You will note that most planets in JHora are about 23degree less from Astrotheme.com. This subtraction is due to your Ayanamsha used in Jyotish. The Astrotheme.com is without ayanamsha correction.

If you want to get the same degree you can change the settings in JHora using Preference;Related Calculation; Ayanamsha and select Tropical Ayanamsha.Warm RegardsSanjay2008/10/16 Patheya Goyal <patheyagoyal

Om Namo Bhagavate ParamguraveDear Patheya, NamasteThe most realiable database with a rating for the accuracy of their Birth data, is www.astrodatabank.com. Astrotheme seems do default birth time to 12pm if unknown, which is often acceptable with Tropical Astrologers in the absence of birth time, but not for Vedic Astrologers wherethe correct Lagna is important.

Further, the biographical data seems to have been referenced from Wikipedia, which is sort of reliable. Please do consult the many books published by Sanjay Rath and SJC members. A compilation of charts used in these books and from the lectures presented at the amny conferences would be more than sufficient to illustrate most of the Astrological principles.
