Namaste friends,

Happy Karthika Pournima to all of you!

> A good Jyotishi can take a principle and show how it applies to *all charts* - saints and sinners alike.

I suppose I have nothing to say to "good Jyotishis" that you are talking about. :-)

But those of us who are not that "good" can use desa-kaala-paatra to judge better. For example, marriages and divorces can be judged differently in different cultures and times, even though the basic paramaters are the same.

If you take thousands of charts of orthodox Indians from 19th century and thousands of people from a modern culture with a high divorce rate, do you expect a big difference in the percentage of people with problematic UL and navamsa in the two groups? Perhaps not.

If you take thousands of people in a poor third world country and thousands of people in an affluent country, do you expect a big difference in the percentage of people with a good 2nd house? Perhaps not.

A lot of things we normally see are *relative* to the desa-kaala-paatra of the person. If a "good Jyotishi" is capable of seeing things in *absolute* terms, good for him or her! But things are visible only in relative terms to most Jyotishis.
