Guest guest
Dear Narasimharao, Namaste, The new version of JHora 7.3 is indeed an addition to your selfless effort for the cause of spreading vedic astrology. I would like to present my a few suggestions for forthcoming version of JHora that may produce ease for the astrologers and researchers. a) JHora is still devoid of Sphuta Drishti (table of precise calculation for planetary aspects) in virupas or percentage, as per teachings of Maharishi Parashar. I hope the forthcoming version of JHora would facilitate Sphuta Drishti between grahas. b) JHora should have a window/tab showing TWO BIG CHARTS (like many other astrology software). Availability of two big charts (eg. rashi + amsa) at a glance helps to concentrate better. In JHora, it is only possible when resolution/scale of monitor screen is low (600x800) and Chakras/Six Vargas tab shows it, otherwise not. c) Only a few software computes Tajik yogas (itthesala, kabool, nakut etc. formed by special aspects between planets). JHora's potential may augment if it provides these special yogas generally used in prashana and varshphala. d) For varshphala, taking birth place for all solar return charts is a widely accepted practice, however, an option may be provided to choose the present location as place of any chosen solar return chart. e) For HORA i.e. planetary hour calculation, JHora should provide the user a neglected 3rd option. Until now, JHora presents two options, but computations from these two options divides a COMPLETE DAY (i.e. day+night) into 24 equal parts. However, many astrologers use to take the daytime hora by dividing the duration of DAY (sunrise to set) into 12 equal parts and night time hora by dividing the NIGHT (sunset to next sunrise) into 12 equal parts. I also found the change of time between Rahu Kala (given by JHora) and various other panchanga due to this difference. f) Another significant thing, I miss a lot in JHora is Match Making or Vedic Marriage Compatibility (36 gunas from 8 kutas, magalik dosh etc). g) Nearly all major Jyotish Classics have taught about eight types of planetary motions. They are Vakra (retrogression), Anuvakra (entering the previous sign in retrograde motion), Vikal (devoid of motion), Mand (slower motion than usual), Mandatar (slower than the Mand), Sama (even ie. neither fast nor slow), Char (faster than Sama), Atichar (in accelerated motion). I myself could not yet get the degree-wise interval for these motions. Most of the software generally shows retrograde and direct motion. Is it possible for you to program the routines for these mentioned above planetary motions. Besides availability of relative speed of a graha especially retrograde or near stationary (in %) may help to research the impact of retrograde planets. h) Availability of Sade Sati table (entrance and exist of transit Saturn in 12th, 1st and 2nd houses) may be a ready-made reference for users of JHora. One can also use another modified Lahiri ayanamsa that uses the fixed solar system rotation plane (Vishnunabhi plane) for projecting the co-ordinates rather than the oscillating ecliptic plane and fixes Chitra star at 180 deg. > > (2) In chara karaka calculation, now there are 4 options. For example, you can find if slow moving planets transit the 10th house from dasa sign during a rasi dasa. > > (5) Many bugs and instabilities are fixed. For example, there was a crash when a divisional chart is used in sarvatobhadra chakra and some other chakras in the past. One can mix solar months with soli-lunar days (tithis) as taught by Sanjay ji or just use soli-lunar months as done in tradition for celebrating birthdays and festivals (e.g. Sri Rama Navami, Janmashtami). > > (7) Installer has been simplified and made easy. Font installation had problems in the past. Now it should be fine. One should be abke to view charts in Indian languages without problems now. > > (8) Updating to the latest JHora will be easier in future. You can seamlessly update without remembering where you installed or doing any copying manually. > > (9) The user preference storing mechanism has been simplified. All preferences are now stored in jhora.ini (present in jhcore sub-directory in the directory chosen by user for JHora installation). It is a flexible format. If user updates to later versions in future, one's preferences will not be lost again and one will not have to reconfigure. In this version, however, all preferences will be reset to defaults. Please change them to what you like. You will not have to do it again. It is a good idea to back up this jhora.ini file in jhcore directory. If you PC crashes and you re-install JHora, you can copy the backed up file to get your preferences. In future, jhora.ini saved with any version of JHora can be read by any version of JHora. > > There are several other bug-fixes and improvements. In general, this will be the stable base version going forward. Please discontinue using previous versions and move to this. Those who maintain copies of JHora for downloading should also change to 7.3. Please stop using or distributing previous versions of JHora. > > Best regards, > Narasimha > > Do a Short Homam Yourself: http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/homam > Do Pitri Tarpanas Yourself: http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/tarpana > Spirituality: > Free Jyotish lessons (MP3): http://vedicastro.home.comcast.net > Free Jyotish software (Windows): http://www.VedicAstrologer.org > Sri Jagannath Centre (SJC) website: http://www.SriJagannath.org > >
