Guest guest
Respected members, I dont know if this is the right forum to ask this question. But, still, can any body elaborate on the significance of doing shradha and other rituals that are carried out during a funeral? Is it true that the soul will become pitr from preta only if the pinda is offered? My father's brother passed away last Sunday. The funeral was on Monday after the solar eclipse. Is it bad to cremate during solar eclipse? Why is it so? In Kerala we have a belief that the pinda offered must be eaten by a crow otherwise it is assumed that the soul will not transit from preta to pitr stage. Is this true? I would like to know how far these are all relevant. With respects, Jyothi
Guest guest
Dear Jyothi, Sorry to hear about your loss. There is an online version of Garuda Purana that you can download. Here is the link http://books.google.com/books?id=1f0XAAAAIAAJ & dq=garuda+purana & printsec=frontcov\ er & source=bl & ots=EM9E0PUJZS & sig=lhwVrkN6AhA3MjocTjT4iyQDxz8 & hl=en & sa=X & oi=book_r\ esult & resnum=9 & ct=result If the above link does not work, just type in " Garuda Purana " in the Google search engine and you should see the link on the first page of the results. Another useful book is Swami Sivananda's, " What Becomes of the Soul after Death " . You can download the book from this weblink http://www.dlshq.org/download/afterdeath.pdf While this book mainly covers the Hindu view of after life but also explores other religious views. regards, Chandraprakash sohamsa , " yeeahoo_99 " <nitish.arya wrote: > > || OM TAT SAT || > Dear Jyothi, > You should read " Garuda Purana " , it gives all the details. > regards, > Nitish > sohamsa , > " jyothi_b_lakshmi " <jyothi_b_lakshmi@> wrote: > > > > Respected members, > > > > > > I dont know if this is the right forum to ask this question.
