Guest guest
Dear all, Especially the learned members- Doesn't the chamakam require initiation OR transmission of adhikara ? OR can it be chanted from books ? I ask since I am thinking of chanting parts of it as parihara. Regards, Shyam
Guest guest
Dear Shyam, In my opinion, no mortal has the power to prevent another person from worshipping Lord Shiva. Therefore no initiation should be required. The chanting of the whole of chamakam requires only about ten minutes. So why do you want to chant parts of it? Chant the whole thing. Everyday. If you look at the meaning of chamakam, it is mainly asking Lord Shiva for this and that. On what basis do you ask for a favour? Only after praying to him. So before chanting chamakam, contemplate on the meaning of " infinitely powerful " . Use your knowledge of physics, chemistry, electricity, magnetism, etc. etc. to fathom his power. Then it will be very easy to surrender yourself at his feet. After surrendering yourself, chant chamakam and you should get the results. As you progress, make time to chant namakam before chamakam. The whole thing takes about half an hour. This daily chanting of namakam and chamakam will take you far. Here is a link to get you started. http://www.chinmayala.org/Vedic-Chanting/vedic_chanting.html All the best. Sincerely, - Mr. Aruna Ajjikuttira. sohamsa , " Shyam V.
