Dear Sanjay,

Fascinating story but what you said does not appear to add up

Jupiter can not be in 7th house in Capricorn in the evening when Sun is in Cancer. If Jupiter is in 7th then Lagna would be Cancer and with Sun there the event would be around dawn. But as it is reported to have taken place in the evening Jupiter has to be somewhere near Lagna with lethal combination of Sun Ketu in Cancer and Saturn plus Mercury on Mrityubhaga in explosive Leo in 2nd from that fiery combination.

Regards

Gordon

|| Om Gurave Namah ||Dear Jyotishas, I came across a very wierd news article, It's quite unbelievable."Lightning kills 9 in one stroke Burdwan, Aug. 4: A single bolt of lightning killed nine people in a Burdwan village this evening while they were attending a shradh ceremony. A son and daughter-in-law of the man in whose memory the mourners had gathered were among the dead."http://www.telegraphindia.com/1090805/jsp/bengal/story_11322819.jspThe News article is pasted below,The punya chart for those dead by lightning is given below,My thoughts, I would take Jupiter to stand for lightning (Indra's weapon hence), Here we see Jupiter is conjoined Rahu is 7th house. Rahu is also the 8th lord. I was also trying to read something from other sources and also Sarajits tips from http://varahamihira.blogspot.com/2008/02/punya-chakra.htmlAny of your learned views are welcome.Warm Regards,Sanjay PNatal Chart August 4, 2009Time: 6:00:00Time Zone: 5:30:00 (East of GMT)Place: 87 E 51' 00", 23 N 15' 00" Burdwan, IndiaAltitude: 0.00 metersLunar Yr-Mo: Virodhi - SravanaTithi: Sukla Chaturdasi (Ve) (82.53% left)Vedic Weekday: Tuesday (Ma)Nakshatra: Poorvashadha (Ve) (5.80% left)Yoga: Priti (Me) (97.33% left)Karana: Garija (Ju) (65.06% left)Hora Lord: Mars (5 min sign: Le)Mahakala Hora: Mars (5 min sign: Pi)Kaala Lord: Mars (Mahakala: Mars)Sunrise: 5:10:20Sunset: 18:18:48Janma Ghatis: 2.0691Ayanamsa: 23-59-23.40Sidereal Time: 3:12:16Body Longitude Nakshatra Pada Rasi NavamsaLagna 27 Cn 56' 48.48" Asre 4 Cn PiSun - PK 17 Cn 47' 48.39" Asre 1 Cn SgMoon - AmK 25 Sg 53' 34.70" PSha 4 Sg ScMars - PiK 21 Ta 47' 56.16" Rohi 4 Ta CnMercury - DK 7 Le 45' 42.86" Magh 3 Le GeJupiter ® - AK 29 Cp 28' 27.84" Dhan 2 Cp ViVenus - GK 9 Ge 23' 51.09" Ardr 1 Ge SgSaturn - BK 25 Le 42' 33.38" PPha 4 Le ScRahu - MK 5 Cp 35' 04.85" USha 3 Cp AqKetu 5 Cn 35' 04.85" Push 1 Cn LeMaandi 27 Li 11' 10.58" Visa 3 Li GeGulika 16 Li 18' 02.04" Swat 3 Li AqBhava Lagna 0 Le 10' 43.01" Magh 1 Le ArHora Lagna 12 Le 35' 36.42" Magh 4 Le CnGhati Lagna 19 Vi 50' 16.65" Hast 3 Vi GeVighati Lagna 26 Pi 03' 37.79" Reva 3 Pi AqVarnada Lagna 27 Sg 56' 48.48" USha 1 Sg GeSree Lagna 7 Cn 03' 25.26" Push 2 Cn ViPranapada Lagna 26 Pi 05' 36.58" Reva 3 Pi AqIndu Lagna 25 Pi 53' 34.70" Reva 3 Pi AqBhrigu Bindu 0 Cn 44' 19.77" Puna 4 Cn CnDhooma 1 Sg 07' 48.39" Mool 1 Sg ArVyatipata 28 Cn 52' 11.61" Asre 4 Cn PiParivesha 28 Cp 52' 11.61" Dhan 2 Cp ViIndra Chapa 1 Ge 07' 48.39" Mrig 3 Ge LiUpaketu 17 Ge 47' 48.39" Ardr 4 Ge PiKaala 11 Sg 04' 55.34" Mool 4 Sg CnMrityu 27 Cn 51' 42.93" Asre 4 Cn PiArtha Prahara 20 Le 07' 51.37" PPha 3 Le LiYama Ghantaka 12 Vi 47' 26.82" Hast 1 Vi ArPrana Sphuta 6 Ge 02' 04.46" Mrig 4 Ge ScDeha Sphuta 13 Vi 26' 39.60" Hast 2 Vi TaMrityu Sphuta 11 Ta 54' 02.67" Rohi 1 Ta ArSookshma TriSphuta 1 Cp 22' 46.73" USha 2 Cp CpTriSphuta 10 Sc 08' 25.22" Anu 3 Sc LiChatusSphuta 27 Aq 56' 13.61" PBha 3 Aq GePanchaSphuta 3 Sg 31' 18.46" Mool 2 Sg TaV2 27 Ta 56' 48.48" Mrig 2 Ta ViV3 27 Ar 56' 48.48" Krit 1 Ar LiV4 27 Ta 56' 48.48" Mrig 2 Ta CpV5 27 Sg 56' 48.48" USha 1 Sg AqV6 27 Vi 56' 48.48" Chit 2 Vi TaV7 27 Le 56' 48.48" UPha 1 Le GeV8 27 Cp 56' 48.48" Dhan 2 Cp ViV9 27 Ar 56' 48.48" Krit 1 Ar LiV10 27 Cp 56' 48.48" Dhan 2 Cp CpV11 27 Le 56' 48.48" UPha 1 Le AqV12 27 Vi 56' 48.48" Chit 2 Vi TaKunda 13 Li 41' 27.17" Swat 3 Li Aq4CP 18 Cn 01' 00.00" Asre 1 Cn Sg+--------------+| | |Ma AL |Ve || | | | || | | | || | | | || | | | ||-----------+-----------------------+-----------|| | |As Su || | |Ke || | | || | | || | | ||-----------| Rasi |-----------||JuR Ra | |Me Sa || | |HL || | | || | | || | | ||-----------+-----------------------+-----------||Mo | |Md Gk |GL || | | | || | | | || | | | || | | | |+--------------+ Vimsottari Dasa ():Ven Ven 1990-10-03 Sun 1994-01-29 Moon 1995-01-29 Mars 1996-10-02 Rah 1997-12-01 Jup 2000-12-01 Sat 2003-08-02 Merc 2006-10-03 Ket 2009-08-01 Sun Sun 2010-10-03 Moon 2011-01-18 Mars 2011-07-20 Rah 2011-11-26 Jup 2012-10-20 Sat 2013-08-08 Merc 2014-07-20 Ket 2015-05-25 Ven 2015-10-03 Moon Moon 2016-10-02 Mars 2017-08-01 Rah 2018-02-28 Jup 2019-09-02 Sat 2020-12-31 Merc 2022-08-02 Ket 2023-12-31 Ven 2024-08-01 Sun 2026-03-30 Mars Mars 2026-10-03 Rah 2027-02-25 Jup 2028-03-15 Sat 2029-02-19 Merc 2030-03-30 Ket 2031-03-27 Ven 2031-08-27 Sun 2032-10-26 Moon 2033-02-28 Rah Rah 2033-10-03 Jup 2036-06-12 Sat 2038-11-08 Merc 2041-09-14 Ket 2044-03-30 Ven 2045-04-17 Sun 2048-04-17 Moon 2049-03-12 Mars 2050-09-15 Jup Jup 2051-10-03 Sat 2053-11-20 Merc 2056-05-31 Ket 2058-09-08 Ven 2059-08-15 Sun 2062-04-12 Moon 2063-01-30 Mars 2064-05-31 Rah 2065-05-06 Sat Sat 2067-10-03 Merc 2070-10-06 Ket 2073-06-13 Ven 2074-07-24 Sun 2077-09-24 Moon 2078-09-05 Mars 2080-04-02 Rah 2081-05-12 Jup 2084-03-18 Merc Merc 2086-10-03 Ket 2089-02-25 Ven 2090-02-23 Sun 2092-12-25 Moon 2093-11-02 Mars 2095-03-31 Rah 2096-03-27 Jup 2098-10-18 Sat 2101-01-22 Ket Ket 2103-10-04 Ven 2104-02-27 Sun 2105-04-28 Moon 2105-09-06 Mars 2106-04-04 Rah 2106-09-03 Jup 2107-09-22 Sat 2108-08-28 Merc 2109-10-07 Lightning kills 9 in one stroke OUR CORRESPONDENT Burdwan, Aug. 4: A single bolt of lightning killed nine people in a Burdwan village this evening while they were attending a shradh ceremony. A son and daughter-in-law of the man in whose memory the mourners had gathered were among the dead. Thirteenpeople have been admitted to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital withsevere burns. The condition of two of them is critical. Suchwas the ferocity of the 6pm bolt — with a temperature possibly as highas 10,000 degrees Celsius — that the bodies were charred. Eight people died on the spot at the congregation in Khandaghosh's Atkulla village, 135km from Calcutta. "Onedied in the hospital. Two of the injured have suffered 80 per centburns and their condition is critical," said Dilip Kumar Jha, thehospital's deputy superintendent. Today'scasualty is possibly the highest ever to have occurred in a singlestroke in Bengal, where deaths by lightning aren't unusual during theNorwester season and monsoon. Ten people had died one May afternoonlast year in Malda but the deaths were scattered across the district. Thisevening, nearly 80 villagers had assembled at the mud-walledthatched-roof house of Anil Pramanik, a 60-year-old who died 12 daysago after protracted illness, for his shradh. A shamiana had been set up in the courtyard of the house to accommodate around 35 people. Suddenlythere was a blinding flash of lightning and cries of panic. "I saw anelectric flash roll across the courtyard and I froze," said SubodhPramanik, 40, a villager invited to the ceremony. Minuteslater, eight charred bodies lay around the courtyard, including thoseof Anil's elder son Sushil, 40, and daughter-in-law Archana, 35. Alsokilled was a five-year-old boy, Anil's relative. The rest wereneighbours. "Wedid not know what to do. I ran to the house of another villager, AsimRoy, who owns two lorries. We used the vehicles to take the injured toBurdwan, 60km away," said Asim Panja, 35, a survivor. The villagers said the shamiana and a portion of Anil's thatched roof were gutted. Ganesh,38, Anil's younger son, recounted the horror. "Rice, dal and vegetablecurry was being served in the courtyard and about 20 villagers had satdown to eat when the bolt struck." Lightningstriking the ground has a temperature of around 10,000 degrees Celsius, said G.C. Debnath, the director of the weather section at the RegionalMeteorological Centre in Calcutta.
