inititation needed for rik veda mantras?

dear all,

namaste.

 

would like to ask all learned members on the forum that do the rik veda mantras

mentioned by maharshi parashara in BPHS , need somekind of initiation before

starting japa?

 

aLSO , bhps mentions that after completion of specified japa,homa with offerings

of 28/108 of the same mantra should be performed.

 

considering todays world , where very little geniune people exsist who can

actually do a technically correct homa , how feasible is this?
