Guest guest
om gurave namah Dear Lakshmi The decision to hold the contact classes in the himalayas is largely due to westerners. Puri, in Odissa is HOT thorughout the year and even in december/january I have seen westerners sweat it out. The conditions can be described as harsh and not condusive to learning somethng as tough as Jyotish. The time of the year is very pleasant in Delhi/North india. The Himalayas have it marked as the best time of year to visit. We are only in the lower range - Rishikesh or Dehradun types and are not going up anywhere. There is no snow in that part and its very very comfortable. What you had in mind when you said this was probably, the higher towns like Almora, or even higher like Mukteshwara, Badrinath etc. Puri would be my first choice and I would actually need a place *outside Puri* for the right study atmosphere so that people stay focused and tuned to the course instead of going shopping. I thought of Konarak, but then that is also not good as the temple has too many distractions, to say the least. So, maybe the highway of Puri-Konarak on the beach, I know a great place there. Cost wise, Puri is peanuts - a few hundred rupees to live like a little king. I was happy to read that you considered, given your health and all other problems. But then, you can have the slides to see later for reference. This course will produce *real jyotish gurus* for the future. The difference will be evident towards the course completion years. You will see them talk Jyotish at a completely different level and will be quoting references without any sweat. Guest guest
|Hare Krsna| Dear Sanjay ji, I would like to join this online "parashara" course, Should I send Application fees + tuition fee for the first year with application form? Best Regards, PavanSanjay Rath <sanjayrathTo: sohamsa Sent: Wed, 11 November, 2009 11:18:04 AMRE: Parashara Jyotisha om gurave namah Dear Lakshmi The decision to hold the contact classes in the himalayas is largely due to westerners. Guest guest
Hare Rama KrsnaDear Pavan,The online and contact classes are both important elements of the course. It is assumed that enrolled students will participate in both of these. You may be accepted into the course and choose not to attend the contact classes. If you do this Sanjay ji may not allow you to enrol/participate in the following year(s) as stated below in the Schedule section:"Students will not be admitted to subsequent years if they fail to attend the contact course in India. Special allowances can be made for unforeseen circumstances at the discretion of the course director."If one had no intention of attending the contact classes I would suggest that they don't apply for the course.Best wishes,Will. On 12/11/2009, at 1:51 PM, Pawan wrote: Hi William, you mean to say contact classes are compulsory with on-line classes? By the way, I know of a number of courses on the Sohamsa website that are outlined under the " Learn Jyotish " tab in the menu bar and in the box above the " Gallery Images " box on the homepage. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear Pavan, In that case you can opt for any of the Brihaspati Jyotish Classes at Sohamsa. These online classes are taught by Sanjayji through narrated powerpoints. That is , you will actually watch the slides one by one as he teaches them. Only, you cannot see him. The Year 1 courses start from the very foundations of jyotish and the beauty of these online courses are that you can take them and pay for them course by course. You need not apply for a whole year at once. Your calendar time will start from the day you enroll. Studying the shastra like Parasara and Jaimini thoroughly cannot be done online. Hence contact classes are a must. Only preparatory lessons are done online. The Year 1 courses start from the very foundations of jyotish and the beauty of these online courses are that you can take them and pay for them course by course.
