Dear Jha ji,

Your effort to bring yet another version of BPHS is commendable.

It is need of the hour.

I may like it to call as Brihat as this will be going to be a very voluminous

edition.

THE POPULAR NORTH- INDIA VERSION OF MAHABHARATA WAS CONTAINING

97,000 VERSES. SOUTH-INDIA VERSION WAS CONTAINING 1, 07. 000 VERSES.

WHEN GITA PRESS MERGED BOTH VERSIONS , COMBINED VERSION WAS NOW CONTAINING

1,13,000 VERSES. THERE WAS NO WAY TO ASCERTAIN THE ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTION

OF SAGE VAYASA , THUS THEY PUBLISHED ALL AVAILABLE VERSES.

Parasara mentioned in Vishnu Purana that VEPoint WAS presently in 1st pada of

Kritika.

This means that hora shashtra might have been narrated some where around 2000

BC.

It will be very difficult to ascertain the originality of all verses available

in various versions

AT THIS LATTER STAGE.

Sita Ram Jha had given some order to verses , that made his version more easy

to understand.

He had made some positive contributions through his translation and that should

be appreciated.

This is the one reason that other later authorities followed his order.You

should bring out

his posotive contribution rather than putting him in negative light (I purchesed

Khemraj

version in 1989 at Rs. 100 but I could draw benefit only after study of Jha's

version purchased in

1996)

I do not think Laghu and Madya Parasari were ever the parts of original Hora

shastra.Laghu

Parasari teaches us the impact of planets on account of their lordship of houses

and Madhya

Parasari deals the impact on dasa result on account of Vargas and mutual

placement of planets

( on account of Sthithi pf planets) , because Hora shastra says that the

results of planets

should be ascertained after knowing Swabhava and placement of planets. These

are two Karikas of Hora shastra , the time and name of author is not known.

Santham was in bad financial state and he was also not having any team of

competent

astrologers to support him . He had given his reasons honestly for choosing a

version.

He could do the translation of only first part on account of financial dispute

with publishes.

G.C.Sharma woks in Govt. department.In spare time he does give astrological

consultations.

about how the product should eventually materialize as, may I suggest that you

join forces with Vinay Jha_jee in this remarkable endeavour? That is if he

endorses such collaboration, of course!

Nice to see dedicated Jyotishis working together, after all the sabre rattling

that is going on while mars is in karka and even before when mars was elsewhere

;-)

It was interesting to read that GCS was a civil servant! It seems that in the

last fifty-seventy years, civil servants (including executives in Civil Service)

had been contributing a lot to modern Jyotish! Hmmm...

BPHS, why some persons are irked with the idea of a comprehensive edition

I approve your prediction, Da. I myself made this prediction, but not in my

name, in a message to PVR recently. Those who have too much SANTOSH will be

confounded with confusion concerning their ill-founded SANTOSH. Refusal to

discuss confusions is not SANTOSH. SANTOSH, in Jyotish, is based on true

findings and not on blind support to wrong ideas.

TRUTH cannot be established in Kaliyuga, excepting for a few who value Truth. I

have no desire to change others. My sole aim is to LEAVE my works for posterity.

TIME will decide who is in the right.

Those who lack SANTOSH should not preach it to others.

Three years ago, the HOD (Pt Shukadev Chaturvedi) of Jyotisha in Lalbahadur

Shastri Kendriya Vidyaapeeth in Delhi organized a small meeting to discuss my

article about Saurapaksha versus Drikpaksha. There, Pt Ramchandra Pandey (former

HOD of BHU) abused me in my absence and asserted that Vinay Jha knows nothing

and his article should not be reviewed, in spite of protests from others. I

requested Pt Nagendra Pandey (now HOD of Jyotisha in Sampoornanand Sanskrit

university, Varanasi) to publish my refutal of Pt Ramchandra Pandey's commentary

of Suryasiddhanta so that a written shaastraartha could take place. After it was

published, I asked topmost Jyotishis of Varanasi to assemble at the residence of

Pt Ramchandra Pandey and read my article in full, and ask Pt Ramchandra Pandey

to refute my points. I had proven that many propositions of Pt Ramchandra Pandey

were wrong. In that meeting, Pt Ramchandra Pandey acdcepted that I was in the

right. Thereafter, he inaugurated my panchanga in Varanasi. Pt Ramchandra Pandey

still entertains a lot of doubts about Suryasiddhanta, mainly because of

centuries of false propaganda against it. Yet, he saw that the points I raised

were correct and stopped opposing Suryasiddhanta.

Similarly, Dr Kameshwar upadhyaya, former editor of Vishva Panchanga of BHU, was

an ardent supporter of Drikpaksha (physical astronomy) in astrology. After he

USED Kundalee, he changed.

You know the filth in internet and ask me to find moksha from internet. But do

you know the filth out of internet??

Those who do not deserve perfect method of Jyotisha will find a thousand excuses

for not testing it. I do not care. I am not a businessman to appease them. Let

them abuse me and my works without testing. I repeat : " TRUTH cannot be

established in Kaliyuga, excepting for a few who value Truth. "
