Dear Rajiv,Gangajal is the most divine liquid to clean the gem.If you able to found gangajal than it is very good.Last year one famous astrologer told me how to enerzize a gemstone. Please read the following points what he has forwarded to me 1. Take a ceramic or glass cup or glass. Mix

2. Mix three teaspoons each of Honey, Gangajal and Milk in it.

3. Dip the ring which has to be purified in this solution.

4. Keep the cup at your place of worship after covering it with a lid.

This is to be done on the evening before the day when you have

to wear the ring. For example, to wear the blue sapphire,/Amethyst you have to

keep the ring in solution on Friday evening.

- Then, on Saturday morning, get up before sunrise and take bath.

- Then, place a cotton mat or folded cotton bed sheet on floor.

- Place an empty bowl, a glass of water and a hand towel with you.

- Place the cup with ring before you.

- Chant the prescribed mantra 108 times.

- Wash the ring using the water in glass and the empty bowl.

- Wipe it dry and wear it.

- Pour the solution in cup on roots of any tree.

The purification process is similar for all gems. Only

difference is the day of purifying and wearing and the mantra to be

chanted. Here are the mantras:Hope it may help youRegardsSunil

om namo bhagavate paramguraveDear RajivNamasteI think the essence is that one has to cleanse first and then energise, cleansing only may probably not be enough. Lets wait for some of the other members who are more experienced in this to comment

As a matter of interest, for what purpose are using amethyst as a remedy for - im just curious Best WishesBipin

Dear Bipin:Thank you. So are you recommending that I don't use salt water or are you suggesting that "salt water is good but cleaning the stone with milk is better and cow's milk is ideal"?

om namo bhagavate paramguraveDear RajivNamasteThe best gems to wear of course are those where you know the origin of and the history in its mining, transportation, cutting etc.

There are two further considerations with gem stones, one is to cleanse it and another is to energise it. With regard to cleansing, a Swami once said, blind uncle is better than no uncle, so I would try and get the best quality milk you can. Try some of the health shops. We only drink organic milk here, so im sure this is obtainable in the US too.

With regard to energising, mantra is best and that only a purohit or someone more qualified has to do. Im not proposing these are the best solutions to your problems, but just offering some suggestions.

I have been asked by a Vedic Astrologer to wear Amethyst stone. He also said that I should dip it in salt water overnight before wearing it on a Saturday. My question is: How safe is it to clean Amethyst with salt water? Will it damage the stone?

Thank you,Rajiv

Dear Rajiv,I am not the authority to give the mantra neither a sadhak. But I am giving you the same mantra which once given to me by my Gurudev Pt.Shri Sanjay Rathji i.e,Saturn mantra is OM hrim kliiM shanischaraaya namahYou should wear the gem one hour before sunrise on Saturday.Procedure of imbibing the ring (Pra¶na Marga):You should wear it beginning from a Saturday morning after letting the ring abide in water (Gangajal) overnight from the previous day. On that same Wednesday you should keep the ring in a palm leaf or in a basin. Apply white sandal paste on the ring/basin, and cover the same with rice and flowers. Then keep the leaf/basin in your left hand, covering the same with your right and recite the following mantra 27 or 108 times:RegardsSunilsohamsa From: rajiv1Date: Wed, 14 Apr 2010 18:05:29 -0400Re: [soHamsa] Cleaning Amethyst stone to Mr.Rajiv
