Dear Dada-Ashish,

[ 1 ] According to Hindu tradition Ladies are not required to do the Tarpan. But

I personally do not find any thing wrong if a lady does the tarpan.

[ 2 ] The devta to be remembered and worshipped during the Pitra paksha is the

Kul Devta.

[ 3 ] Yes, There is a minor Pitri Rin dosh in your kundali. There is no such

dosh in your husband's kundali.

Therefore you should:

Count all the members of your extended family. Extended family includes the

family of your uncles also. Married sisters and daughters are not to be counted

in. Once you have got the count, get some token subscription from them to meet

the expanses of the two upaya you have to do. In case some one refuses to give

his share, you should put his share from your pocket. Of the money thus

collected you have to do these two upaya.

[ 1 ] Gift at any temple some item which is of general use for those who come to

worship there.

[ 2 ] Buy kaudis { small sea shells } which should be yellowish in colour equal

to the number of members counted above. Burn these kaudis on kachcha koyala {

wood charcoal } in an open earthen pot, at the bank of a river close to the

water. When the kaudis turn to ashes, throw the ash into the river and later

throw the pot also into the river. Make sure while you are burning the kaudis ,

no one should cross between the water and the place where the kaudis are being

burnt. That means burn the kaudis close to the water.

Sincerely,

Priya

Dear Priyaji

Namaskar

Is it true that one should not light diyas (not even to Shani dev on saturdays)

during Pitra Paksha or even perform any pujas during this period. If its true and

somebody has lit them knowingly or unknowingly then what has to be done

Love and Regards

Rupen.
