It is the Kul Devta who is a protector of your family. He is the well wisher of your family. Therefore he should not be forgotton. I do not know whether you live in India or abroad, if you live in India then giving a roti to a cow every day is also essential. In case you live abroad then feeding birds can be done as an alternative.
