Namaste,

Happy Makara Sankranthi to all of you!

An important update 7.32 is available for download now.

- Some bugs in modified Lahiri ayanamsas are fixed. Now, all ayanamsas are

reliable. Apart from the regular Lahiri ayanamsa, two variations are available:

(1) True Chitrapaksha ayanamsa: This fixes Chitra star at 180 deg always. With

regular Lahiri ayanamsa, Chitra star wobbles around 180 deg.

(2) Jagannatha ayanamsa (thanks to Pt Sanjay Rath for suggesting this name):

This fixes Chitra star at 180 deg always and also fixes the two-dimensional

plane on which planetary positions are projected to Vishnunabhi plane (solar

system rotation plane). In regular Lahiri, Chitra wobbles around 180 deg and the

two-dimensional plane of planetary longitudes wobbles around the Vishnunabhi

plane.

- Krishna mishra navamsa is added (thus, three navamsa options are available -

Parasari, Kalachakra and Krishna mishra).

- Bhrigu bindu calculation is fixed.

- The starting point options existing in Vimsottari dasa (i.e. ability to start

dasa from Moon, lagna, kshema tara, utpanna tara, aadhaana tara, bhrigu bindu,

pranapada, maandi, gulika, longitudes of various planets, Indu lagna, Trisphuta

etc) are extended to all conditional nakshatra dasas. For example, you can now

find Sataabdika dasa from lagna instead of Moon.

- Yogi, sahayogi and avayogi planets are shown.

- Charts notes (*.txt file) are saved in the same directory where the chart

(*.jhd file) is saved. Earlier, the behavior was indeterminate and the chart

notes were lost sometimes.

- When you save a chart as a bitmap for pasting later into an electronic

document, it gives a dialog box to choose the file to save.

- If one has a display with a horizontal size more than 1280 (e.g. 1440x1080 or

1600x1200 or 1920x1080), than a " packed chart mode " is available. Next to dasa

calculations etc, one can see 6 different divisional charts (instead of normal

two). One can turn this on/off based on how big one's monitor is.

- Some miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.

* * *

This is an important update and Jagannatha Hora is a lot more stable and robust

now than in the past. Getting updates will also be easier from now onwards. One

can just download a 1 MB file and run it to install updates.

Thanks,

Narasimha

Download Jagannatha Hora 7.3

Namaste,

You can now download Jagannatha Hora 7.3 from

www.VedicAstrologer.org/jh

This has several bug-fixes and improvements. A few salient improvements:

(1) Apart from Lahiri ayanamsa, one can now use a modified Lahiri ayanamsa

that fixes Chitra star at 180 deg. One can also use another modified Lahiri

ayanamsa that uses the fixed solar system rotation plane (Vishnunabhi plane) for

projecting the co-ordinates rather than the oscillating ecliptic plane and fixes

Chitra star at 180 deg.

(2) In chara karaka calculation, now there are 4 options. The hybrid 7/8

karaka method of Parasara given in my recent article and karaka dasa are also

included.

(3) Tripataki chakra, Shoola chakra and Sudarsana chakra are added.

(4) One can locate transits of Jupiter, Saturn and nodes in any house from the

dasa/antardasa sign (in the case of rasi dasas) or the sign occupied in natal

rasi chart by the dasa/antardasa lord (in the case of planetary dasas) during

the dasa/antardasa. For example, you can find if slow moving planets transit the

10th house from dasa sign during a rasi dasa.

(5) Many bugs and instabilities are fixed. For example, there was a crash when

a divisional chart is used in sarvatobhadra chakra and some other chakras in the

past. Such crashes and bugs are fixed.

(6) Two options are available for Tithi Pravesha. One can mix solar months

with soli-lunar days (tithis) as taught by Sanjay ji or just use soli-lunar

months as done in tradition for celebrating birthdays and festivals (e.g. Sri

Rama Navami, Janmashtami).

(7) Installer has been simplified and made easy. Font installation had

problems in the past. Now it should be fine. One should be abke to view charts

in Indian languages without problems now.

(8) Updating to the latest JHora will be easier in future. You can seamlessly

update without remembering where you installed or doing any copying manually.

(9) The user preference storing mechanism has been simplified. All preferences

are now stored in jhora.ini (present in jhcore sub-directory in the directory

chosen by user for JHora installation). It is a flexible format. If user updates

to later versions in future, one's preferences will not be lost again and one

will not have to reconfigure. In this version, however, all preferences will be

reset to defaults. Please change them to what you like. You will not have to do

it again. It is a good idea to back up this jhora.ini file in jhcore directory.

If you PC crashes and you re-install JHora, you can copy the backed up file to

get your preferences. In future, jhora.ini saved with any version of JHora can

be read by any version of JHora.

There are several other bug-fixes and improvements. In general, this will be

the stable base version going forward. Please discontinue using previous

versions and move to this. Those who maintain copies of JHora for downloading

should also change to 7.3. Please stop using or distributing previous versions

of JHora.

Best regards,

Narasimha
