And that is why we have in ancient scriptures the references to not

just using what we deem to be astrology, but also other modalities,

such as NIMITTA and others...

 

And spiritual purity was specifically recommended for the

prognosticator. Even though it was pointed out by Varahamihira in the

context of JYOTISH, it was DIVINATION he was talking about

(literally, because his teachings I presume were delivered by ORAL

TRADITION?)
