These ridges must not be " man-made " but natural. There are still 90% of Hindu Puja dealers that are selling common American WHELK shells as Dakshinavart Lakshmi Shank. This is fraud! This is either ignorance or dishonesty, but either reason is a disgrace to India as a whole, not to mention very bad karma (dukriti). PUJA DEALERS TAKE NOTE!!! And buyer beware... Guest guest Posted April 19, 2009 Report Share Posted April 19, 2009 aum namah shivaya dear richard , hello .. i have seen the photo you have posted. my mother just happened to have a real dakshinamurti white color shankh , that she was unaware of , which i have now taken possesion of and have kept it in my puja section. could you please share a basic daily worshipping ritual for the shankh ? right i offer it a lamp , incense sticks and sandwalwood twice a day , seeking for blessing ... thanks and regards, chandan s sabarwal. ps - my shankh also has 3 natural rigdes exactly as shown in the photo you posted.
