For example- when mercury has been sifted from second house(kanya) to lagna house (Singh)IN THE NIRYAN BHAV CHALIT where the sun had already present then results of Mercury will be changed for Second house. Whether the results should be drawnup from Lagna Kundli or Niryan Bhav Chalit. Take for eg in May 2009, jupiter will be trasiting into kumbh rashi, but will give results of makar rashi, ie result of debilated guru.
