Guest guest
Friends, I am an astrology beginner and have learnt a few basics from varied sources. I have found the explanations (to some concepts) provided by Shri Sanjay Rath and Shri PVR Narasimha Rao to be very lucid and clear and that helped me in understanding a few further concepts. For this reason I am thankful to them. Since I was getting stuck in the interpretation of charts I constructed a sequence list that I thought were the steps to be followed when interpreting a chart so as not to get bogged down by the immensity and complexity of details contained in a simple horoscope. I present this list here to invite any corrections suggestions and valuable additions that experts may consider important. Beginners Steps:- 1. Note the lagna (rasi) and understand what it shows 2. Note the chandra-lagna (rasi) and understand what it shows 3. Note the nakshatra (lunar-mansion) and understand what qualities are bestowed on the individual. This is a single most important piece of knowledge that throws light on the essence of the individuals mind and the core-influences (unchangeable) that act upon it. The influence of a nakshatra exists as long as the individual lives. These 3 simple steps by themselves present the " first image " ~ an idea of the personality, appearance and mental make-up of the individual. planets in lagna and chandra lagna may of course modify the " first image " . 4. Note Sun's rasi and understand what it shows 5. Check if there is an essential harmony between the items mentioned in steps 1-4. If there is a harmony then the person may posses self integration. A lack of harmony here may indicate internal conflicts. 6. Study of planets 6.a Note which planets are benefics and malefics for a given lagna 6.b Study the planets themselves and the rasi they are placed in and how they get affected by rasi and how they in turn affect the rasi 6.c Study the lords of the 1-12 houses and their placements The complexity has increased with step 6 7. Study of houses 7.a Study each house (1-12 from lagna) by coloring/modifying it with the basic qualities of the overlapping rasi 7.a Study each house (1-12 from chandra-lagna) by coloring/modifying it with the basic qualities of the overlapping rasi 7.c Look for harmony between the images studied in 7.a and 7.b 8. Ascertain the AtmaKaraka and the remaining chara-karakas. 9. Search for available raja-yogas These are the steps I could come up with. I invite your suggestions, comments and criticism.
