Dear DADAs and BHAIs (here, there and elsewhere!),

 

This ongoing 'civil-war', while very interesting is getting repetitive, so for

the re-engagement of the " READERSHIP " of this VISUAL FORUM, I am throwing in a

light remark! Just because it is " light " does not mean that it is expected to be

enlightening! ;-)

 

Give or take a few years, the SAYANA ZODIAC as used in the context of astrology

(divination and not for fixing festival times etc!) probably started around the

time of Christ's Birth, around the era when the SAYANA and NIRAYANA Zodiacs were

almost coinciding! Some 2000 years ago. I think the Hand-project etc have

indicated that too, although please do verify! Sometimes the Right Hand does not

know what the Left Hand does!

 

So this SAYANA vs NIRAYANA Taqraar is beginning and escalating, not in the

Pauranic or Vaidik ages but THESE days when the Sayana and Nirayana are

significantly different! Wasn't the case perhaps in the Tetrabiblios days or

when Varahamihira and Satya wrote as some date those Jyotish Doyens! (AGAIN,

please verify! I always hated History in school, but absolutely loved Science

and Logic!).

 

Now really what is crucial is: Are Seasons important or the Stars?

Dear Rohini,

 

Your " I say both " is the right answer to the problem but Jyotirved is not

agreeing to that because he had for years campaigned against the use of the

Sidereal Zodiac, being under the influence of the Pingrean ideas. Bhagavad Dutta

says in his edited Atharvana Jyotisha that the Varas have been used  before the

12 th century BCE and he also explains how the Brahmana used tithis and not

varas in the rituals but Jyotirved says that the deditor believes the date to be

500 BCE. Such open distortion of truth is difficult to tolerate. Such mails with

the falsities are appearing practically every day and if I would have seen

Jyotirved's horoscope then I could have had some ideas as to how long this

anti-scriptural tirade will continue.
