Suggestion needed. Remedy for not performing rituals for a departed relative.

Dear members,

 

One of my friend's aunt (father's elder sister) passed away last Saturday. The

lady who died does not have any living sons and it was up to my friend to do the

rituals.

 

Due to unfortunate circumstances my friend could not attend the burial. It turns

out that nobody from my friend's family attended the burial. Therefore the body

was buried without their custom ritual (which were to be performed by her

paternal side).

 

My friend is feeling terrible about it and wants to perform pooja for the

departed soul. I request the learned members to guide my friend and suggest what

he can do now.
