Guest guest
Namaste friends, Parasara described the results of karakamsa being in various signs in BPHS. For example, karakamsa in Ar gives fear from rats and cats in the house; karakamsa in Ta gives comforts from animals (good vehicles etc); karakamsa in Li makes one a businessman; karakamsa in Sc gives fear from snakes and insects; karakamsa in Cp gives business related to conches, pearls, red corals, crocodiles etc; karakamsa in Pi gives spiritual progress; and so on. If one parses all the results, two things stand out: (1) The inherent nature of the sign occupied by karakamsa has a role in deciding one's nature. (2) The results given by Parasara cover various areas of life, things that he told us to see from D-4 (fortune), things that he told us to see from D-10 (work), things that he told us to see from D-16 (comforts), things that he told us to see from D-20 (spirituality), things that he told us to see from D-30 (evils and misfortune), etc. Factor (2) above makes it obvious that Parasara did not mean " the sign occupied by AK in navamsa " by " karakamsa " . Parasara defined 16 amsa charts and clearly outlined the matters seen in each chart. He never said " amsa " by default means " navamsa " , though that is the common convention today. Given that Parasara defined many amsas and clearly defined which matters to see in which amsa, we need to choose an appropriate amsa based on the result being talked about. If one applies oneself a little, this will be quite obvious. By giving a variety of samples covering various matters, Parasara is clearly telling us that the sign occupied by AK in various divisional charts can be seen to get an idea about the basic personality in various areas of life. Also, the results given by him are samples only. Ar stands for so many things in so many areas of life, in addition to fear from rats and cats. Li stands for so many things in so many area of life, in addition to business. And so on. A rishi gives philosophy and outlines just a few examples. A rishi's purpose is not to spoonfeed, but to enable one to think!! * * * AK (chara atma karaka) is one's sense of self, the sense of I-ness ( " this is I " ). If one's existence as an entity separate from Aatman is a kingdom, then this I-ness is the king. That is why Parasara calls AK the king. AmK (chara amatya karaka) is one's sense of purpose in life, the sense of " this is what I need to do " . That is why AmK is equated to minister. Just as a minister counsels a king, one's sense of purpose in life counsels and drives one's I-ness to engage in various actions. * * * Driven businessmen like Ramakrishna Dalmia and Dhirubhai Ambani had AK in Ar in D-10, showing that their sense of self manifests in professional life in a gritty and driven way. Bill Gates has AK in Cn in D-10, showing that his sense of self manifests in professional life in a creative way. His AmK is in Ge in D-10 and his sense of purpose in profession is related to intellectual work and communications. Henry Ford had AK in Aq in D-10 and his sense of self manifested in an innovation based profession. George Bush had AK in Sg in D-10 and his sense of self manifested in profession as a deep and fiery sense of dharma (duty). Nehru had AK in Vi in D-10 and his sense of self manifested in profession as an intellectual. Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee also had AK in Vi (it was Mercury!) and his sense of send manifested in profession as an intellectual and scholar. Bobby Fischer had AK in Le in D-10 and his sense of self manifested in profession as a proud being. Mahatma Gandhi had his AK in Cp in D-10 and his sense of self manifested in profession as a steady, patient and firm persistence (Ar shows fiery grit, while Cp owned by Saturn - where Mars is exalted - shows persistence and perseverance, much like its Sanskrit name makara or crocodile). Ramakrishna Paramahamsa had AK in Cp in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in spiritual life as steady and firm persistence. He did intense sadhanas and distributed the fruits to others later. Swami Chandrasekhara Saraswati also had the same thing and he is known for intense sadhanas. Sarada Mata had AK in Ta in D-20 and her sense of self manifested in her spiritual life as pragmatism, kindness, compassion and hard work. Swami Vivekananda had AK in Pi in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in his spiritual life as wisdom in an elevated state. Ramana maharshi had AK in Aq in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in his spiritual life as a high philosopher. A compassionate saint like Swami Trigunatitananda (he was a direct disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. On being seriously injured in a bomb blast caused by a suicide bomber, the first thing he asked after regaining consciousness was about the well-being of the bomber!) has AK in Cn in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in spiritual life as compassion. Paramahamsa Nithyananda has AK in Ge in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in spiritual life as an eloquent communicator. One famous astrologer who emphasizes complex rules (e.g. fasting on so and so day angers Vishnu, using so and so mala for so and so deity causes problems, you have to pick a mantra with correct number of letters based on horoscope etc) has AK in Vi in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in spiritual life as a seeker of formulas and rules. Baba Muktananda had AK in Sc in D-20 and his sense of self manifested in spiritual life as a tantrik and mystic (giving shaktipath etc). * * * It is my opinion that " sign occupied by karakamsa " means the sign occupied by AK in ANY divisional chart and not just navamsa. For each karakamsa based on each divisional chart, you know something about the basic personality in THAT area of life. This is actually quite obvious if you parse Parasara carefully. The above examples illustrate the philosophy extracted by parsing Parasara. However, please note that only some basic points can be made based on the sign. We really need to look at other planetary influences too.
