World Heading for some natural calamities? ISLANDS

The first ever death I witnessed in this lifetime was of my grandmother. I was

very young then, not quite a teenager given that she passed on on Holi!

 

I was the last one to place the ganga-jaal on her lips as the rites recommended!

I was just following orders! Bhattacharya meshomoshai was instructing at that

sombre moment that I better be careful in how much Ganga_jal I placed on my

dying Grandmother's lips (already with the 'death rattle' as it is called!).

 

She was looking at me STRAIGHT at that moment. She was neither happy nor sad. It

is that GAZE that has always stayed with me all my life which said a lot that

stayed with me all my life!

 

What a wonderful life-long GIFT to leave with a grandson who went on to become

an astrologer. etc.!

Hi Rohini,

 

So you don't close the eyes of a dead person?

I didn't know that!

The sayings like 'when my eyes get closed' 'who'll close my eyes'

all refer to death.

Dear Anna,

 

When I die, I hope the survivors do not close my eyes right away just to fulfil

some ceremonial 'prescription', in order for me to be able to begin to SEE ;-)

 

 

Grandmother's eyes did get closed but I was fortunate to witness that moment of

death and dying and the passing!

ADELAIDE, Australia – A powerful earthquake struck off the Solomon Islands on

Sunday, but a monitoring agency said a tsunami was not expected.

 

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 7.1-magnitude quake hit southwest of the

island chain's Kira Kira island in the South Pacific. The temblor's epicenter

was about 130 miles (210 kilometers) southeast of the capital, Honiara.

 

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says a destructive wave is not expected.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

 

The Solomon Islands is a country of nearly 1,000 islands that lie on the " Ring

of Fire " — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones that stretches around the

Pacific Rim and where about 90 percent of the world's quakes occur.
