Dear Members,

One of my friend is building a temple for Sri Krishnar in Manipur.

Some of the trustee wanted the Kalasam to be in copper and some wanted

to be in Ceramic / Porcelain. So, can anyone tell what is the

advantage of having the Kalasam in Copper and the disadvantage of

having it in Ceramic / Porcelain. Its little bit urgent. Please

respond if anyone knows about this.

Adiyen.

it shold be in copper only as per agama regulations

if the concerned temple is performing poojas as per tamilnadu or vaikasana or vaishnava tradition

it is better to follow traditional methods

it is filled with varahu and other dals i learn

normally it is having akarshna sakthi and deserves

rest can be had from search engines

SrI:

Dear Devotee:

The Copper Kalasam is there because of its

superior conductivity to heat and electricity

and desirable thermoelastic properties .

Ceramic will take the moisture but not extreme

swings in temperataure .

Copper has excellent lightning rod functions

unlike ceramics or Marble .

The Kalasams have the PoorNa Kumbham

aspect to welcome the devotees from afar .

The 4 kalasams represent the four vedams

as at Srirangam PraNavAkAra VimAnam .
