They are not worried about the separation from the person on the deathbed but worried about his wealth. When he is reeling in physical pain they torment him by asking him the place and details of his wealth. They ask him' Come on! Tell!Tell! Where have you kept all your money?" 'sOarvinAl poruL viathuNdAgil, sollu! sollu enRum suTRam irundhu' 4-5-3; Enter the realm of devotin to Him before all this, is the prescription of PeriyAzvar. They surround him not because of care for him but to see that no money is goes undetected and waste. The text of the vyAkyAnam is wonderful: 'ivanai izhakkap pOgiROam enRu bayam anRu! ivan vaitha arhtam oruvarum aRiyAmal maN thinRu pOgiR seivadhen?' They are not afraid that they are going to lose him. They are worried that wealth he possesses may go undetected and ultimately go a waste. SvAmi Nam AzvAr expresses the fact that these are not the real relatives but He is the one. in 'koNDa peNdir' thiruVaimzohi 9-1. Sri PiLLai LOkAchAryAr illustrates this in detailed manner in prapanna parithrANam. 'Surrender At the feet of the Lord before you attain this commiserative positon' is the moral of the story. It is customary to talk of ones good deeds when a person passes away. The fickle nature of the realtionship is highlighted by PeriyAzvAr. The liquid diet also refuses to go in.
