Guest guest
The Regular Hospitality-2 nAdORum virundhOmbuvAr Sri periyAzhwAr talks high about hospitality again, elsewhere in the same prabhandham. "nA-akAriayam sol ilAdhavar, nAL dhORum virundhOmbuvAr' peiriAzhwAr thirumozhi 4-4-1; The attributes and greatness of the devotees of thiruk-kOshtiyUr dhivya-dhEsam is appreciated by periAzhwAr. The quality of receiving the guests and taking care of them day in and day out is highlighted here. Another great thing is those who are regularly residing there are also taken the same care as if they have just arrived for taking food. There is a saying =faimiliarity breeds contempt. Similarly, if a srEvaishNavite is residing on a regular basis they are tend to be sidelined or given a secondary importance. An attitude 'after all they are here regularly' creeps in. This attitude is avoided by the thiru-k-kOshtiyUr devotees, is the observation of swAmi periAzhwAr. The vyAkyAnam highlights this fact: "nithya vAsam seiyyum srEvaishNavargaLai, appOdhu amudhu seiyya ezhundharuLina srEvaishNavargaLaip pOlEA, AdharippArgaL" 'SrevaishNavites who regularly live are treated at par with those SrEvaishNavites who visit the divya desam' dasan vanamamalai padmanabhan vanamamalai padmanabhan
Guest guest
Dear Sri.Padmanabhan Swamy, Quite an interesting piece. Kaliyan's pasuram on the same Thirukkoshtiyur has some coincidence in the context of "virundhu". thooNGgu thaNpala viNnkaNni thoguvaazhaiyiNn kaNniyodu maaNGgaNnithENGgu thaNpuNnalchoozh thirukkOttiyooraaNnE (PT. 9.10.8) Kaliyan refers to Mango, Jack fruit and Banana. These are very basic food items included in the virundhu. Thirukkoshityur is fertile with lots of these fruits. adiyen ramanan Padmanabhan <aazhwar wrote: The Regular Hospitality-2 nAdORum virundhOmbuvAr Sri periyAzhwAr talks high about hospitality again, elsewhere in the same prabhandham.
