Guest guest
Great-Greater-Greatest We mortals feel flattered when somebody praise us. If somebody says 'You are great', we fall for it.Here is from the Sage NAradha muni. A tortoise was spotted on the ganges -shining. The sage observed its splendor and approached and said it was indeed great. The tortoise refuted telling that if it is so great then what would be the sprawling ganges which is having so wealth and bequeathing riches to one and all and fertility to the places it goes around making it fragrance pervading around. The sage then approached the Ganges and said 'You are indeed great, flowing around with opulence. The ganges forthwith rejected this and said, if rivers are so great, then what about the seas and oceans which are repository of wealth and treasures stacked in their depths. The sage was again negated by the ocean mentioning that the earth which is their base is greater, but earth also pointed to the mountains. The mountains contradicted this saying that BrahmaDevan is greater, being the creator or the worlds. BrahmadEvan who bases his creation on the premise of vEDas pronounced thus: The powerful vedics verses were propounded to be greater. However, these vedic verses indicated that the yajnic practices (vEALvi) which are actually demonstration of their efficacy is greater. These homam-s or the yagnAs draw power from the supreme being and they declared in unequivocal term the He, the Supreme, He the SrimAn, He the one and only person pervading all is the Greatest and Sri NAradhA came down to earth and met Sri KrshNA and expressed this worshipping this and Sri KrshNA accepted this with a smile. Sri PeriyAzvAr quotes this episode gradually going from lower to higher grades thus finally ending with the greatest Sri KrshNA AmaiyAi-gangaiyAi-Azh-kadalAi-avaNIyAi-aruvarayAi-nAnmuganAi-nAnmaRaiyAi vEALviyAi-thakkanAiyAi -thAnum AnAn ShEamamudai nAradhanAr senRu SenRu thozhudu irainjum.PeriyAzvAr Thirumozhi 4-9-5; That was indeed great no greater no no The one and only greatest Sri KrshNA by The great AzvAR PeriyAzvAr dasan vanamamalai padmanabha
